The hanger keeps the airplane dry, the fridge keeps my belly full, and this stupid computer keeps me checking the weather every 30 min or so. Looks like I am waiting untill 6 am (at least)friday to leave here. If all goes well it will be at least 3pm before I reach Brodhead on friday. That was great! I would like to see us do something like this in Fresno/Clovis. Also, I am gonna post another message related to what I found after watchin g your video... You seen this?? From: Mark Roberts Hey Dan: I for one have been living vicariously through your purchase and delivery of N8031... I had forgotten the actual number until this morning when I searched the N number on google... "Why?" you ask did I search google for (almost) your new precious little bird? After watching Pat's video post from earlier today, I watched a link on youtube that was offered showing the Piet from down under flying around. I'd seen this before, but it's always fun to watch again. After THAT video, another was offered that showed a piet in the still photo representation of the video, but when I played the video, it was of several planes taking off and landing in Las Vegas. The Piet was 1:38 minutes or so into the video. As the tail numbers went by, I thought... "Who's Piet is that?" Well, a quick search on Google revealed... Well... can you fill in the blanks Dan?? :o) Google's first search link lead me to http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=253268&sid=37f7086af44674fe4944c9161df15828 which was your post announcing the flight we are now watching on SPOT.... I got so excited I tried to call ya even though I haven't met you before but no answer. You might have already seen the video, I dunno, but it was cool seeing the plane 'incognito' . Here's the link to the soon to be YOUR plane in Las Vegas (I think the plane looks broke and hung over to me, but that just might be my projection of the last trip I made to Vegas....) Look for her at about 1:38 or so...: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7dK9uPl-lk&NR=1&feature=fvwp Funny how one thing leads to another... Hi Mark, I went through almost the same mode of discovery on that youtube video clip when I ran across it a few months ago - Tres sent me a link to this video of N8031 low flying in the hills west of Bakersfield: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFjXOhPYm1w And right there in the "Related videos" was the same still image you found! I couldn't believe it! They've got 2 more hops to Dayton I reckon, then they'll be flying toward OSH in the Airventure Cup. What a trip! Cheers, Dan PS Congrats on surviving the first 18 years of your twins. I'm still working on getting through the first 3 years with mine - as of last Sunday, both are potty trained so things are looking up! ;-) PPS How are your ribs coming? From: Mark Roberts Well, I am glad you saw the video... I was freakin' out and my daughters were asking "What's up with you"? You should have seen their faces when I told them I just saw an airplane that a guy I've never met just bought, from a guy in SLO (my wife was raised in SLO and born at the hospital there... even smaller world, huh?!)... They just looked at me with that 'bless his heart' look. (Had a friend in TX tell me that when a Texan say's "bless your heart" it really is Texan for "You poor dumb #$%@"...) They reminded me of a hog with a wrist watch: "what are you so excited about that for"... Oh Well... That low fly over the B-Field hills was fun... My rib project is waiting for the dough to get the Epoxy... I thought I had a bonus coming, and instead business has dried up to dust here for me... No bonuses this last month to fuel the build. I have the jig on my work bench, and instead of building, I am working a second job I just got to fuel the budget... Oh well, others have it worse. I am grateful for health and my family. This too will pass :o) Watching with earnest as you get your wings! Be sure to post some pics of you taking delivery :oD Oh, and it is amazing how much easier raising twins become as they get older. Built in best friends, and you don't have to worry who their best friend's parents are that they are hanging around! :o) Mark On Thu, Jul 23, 2009 at 10:49 AM, Dan Yocum wrote: > > Hi Mark, > > I went through almost the same mode of discovery on that youtube video clip > when I ran across it a few months ago - Tres sent me a link to this video of > N8031 low flying in the hills west of Bakersfield: > > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFjXOhPYm1w > > And right there in the "Related videos" was the same still image you found! > I couldn't believe it! > > They've got 2 more hops to Dayton I reckon, then they'll be flying toward > OSH in the Airventure Cup. We were socked in today (thurs) here in Ohio, untill at least 4 pm. I talked to Don Emch today and he will try again in the a.m. if all the weather is gone. Mike Cuy should also be headed up. The barnstormers in the hay field in Indiana had Ford engine troubles I guess with th Rudolph Piet, but sounds like they were hard at work resolving them. I am guessing there will be at least 10-15 more piets at Brodhead come sun down on Friday. Looking forward to seeing you all there. P.S. I should arrive around 2-4pm CDT if the storms don't build up.
