Hey Jim That's great info. Appreciate it. What kind of brake setup did your first setup have? Any photos of your landing gear or the whole airplane on the Internet? Ditto on 'forget' about the quality.... Just POST AWAY :o) For those of us stuck at home, it's great to see what's going on... If anyone can video the discussion on the 612 airfoil from Piety Lowell, we'll be very greatful... (I know, I know, beggars can't be choosy........ Unless of course they are the beggars at the corner across from my office.. They are very choosy!) Mark Starting on ribs, er, soon... Drum brakes on both iterations, the first was straight motorcycle (pictured), the replacements have a drum with an inch larger diameter. Both are adequate for turning, neither could hold a full power run up (but with the Ford that's unnecessary). Clear dope, but the final coat has about one ounce of tan added to a gallon of clear. It held up to the elements for 20 years, but the wing now needs recovering. Sure is lonely with everybody gone to Brodhead and Oshkosh! I'll be starting up the new A75 pretty soon and need to check on switch setting. The 65 didn't have impulse on either mag and the 75=2C with new Slicks=2C has it on both. I've heard that the mag switch should be set to "Left" for starting. I've always set it to "Both". Any comments on procedure? Thanks. Oscar Zuniga Air Camper NX41CC San Antonio=2C TX mailto: taildrags@hotmail.com website at http://www.flysquirrel.net

I have an A75 in my Baby Ace with Slicks, and It will start 99% of the time on the first blade with both mags hot.- I think as Peter's article sugge sts, you only need to set the switch on Left if you have just one impulse m ag on the left side.- That is the setup on my A-65 I'm putting in my Piet , and I'll be starting it for the first time in a week or so.- A pretty e xciting time in the build! I'm curious, did you have any problems with kickbacks with your A-65 withou t impulse? Sorry for the shaky video, but he just popped up out of nowhere and I had to run to get an open view and still had to use extreme zoom. Hi Jeff, Nice to meet you! I don't suppose you recorded all of Dick Navratil's talk as well, did you? All, It's too soon to try to put into words what I saw and learned in the last 3 days! For those who could not make it, my deepest sympathies and my sincere wishes that you get to go sometime in the future. Here are just a few of the many, many images I took: (1) Greg Cardinal was most gracious in "asking" me if I wanted a ride Thursday evening. Who would not want to be the pilot behind those goggles!!! "Thanks Greg!!!" If some of you have not been in an open cockpit (and especially a Piet), it was everything I dreamed it would be. (2) My camera is cheap and without a decent operator, but if you are very careful, you may count about 16 or 17 Piets in image #2. (3) Actually, I am quite surprised by "Brodhead 099." It just goes to the old saying about the blind squirrel finding a nut once in awhile. Beyond the really cool airplanes, the people are The Best. "THANK YOU," to all of you builder/owner/pilots who took time to fly there (sometimes a quite considerable amount of time), and for your patient replies to the incredible amount of questions that you got bombarded with. Here's the last videos for tonight. They include Ken Perkins, Don Emch, Jack Phillips, Kurt Shipman, and Chris Price in his Heath. There may be others, but I'm fading fast, so apologies if I missed someone. As time allows (I'll be on the road to OSH, though) tomorrow I will upload the videos from earlier today, which will include the arrival of all these guys, plus a little of Lowell Frank (Pieti Lowell) and another Piet puttering around in the early morning. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hX9Ji0lW32Y http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGfr1kk9sKc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49etYxyW5fs See you tomorrow, Jeff

Wow Jeff! That's the best news I've had today! Thanks for taking the trouble to get that on tape. We actually were spending a special day with my in-laws today for my mother in law's 80th birthday. I am ashamed to admit that during the festivities I was wondering how that lecture/workshop was going! :o\ Man, I got a one track mind... Muchly appreciated!
