Lot's of Rangers around Victoria ( Vancouver Island) in the 60's. Damn near every oval car had one, inverted and all. Also one with a 985 P&W! That didn't last long though. Pat Bay , aka Victoria International, was and still is a busy av hub. Not only is the new Dehaviland Twin Otter being built there but Victoria Airmotive annuals an awful lot of warbirds. I even saw a Tigercat there a while back. Quite a bit of Dean Sevold's Piet testing was done off the original ramp, now used by the flying club, museum and Otter folks. The place is known for simultanious operations! Clif, getting closer, battery now installed. > Mark: > Sure would like to try a Ranger. might require the wing relocation > adjusted. > Pieti Lowell

Thanks guys. I guess it will all seem strong enough when I build it, but it would seem that there would need to be more beef up there for the engine. However, Gary, your pictures show it well. I had surfed your spot on West coast Piet before posting the question, and that is where I saw the ash piece for the first time. Just a quick follow up: the piece on the bottom of the fuse is there to stabilize the flooring I am guessing? It doesn't look like it is glued to the metal motor mounts, so I am assuming it doesn't provide the support for anything other than stabilizing the plywood at the very end of the flooring..? Thanks for the clarification guys! Great idea Cliff, instead of a battery box hanging on the firewall a battery stand behind it, nice wood work. rick On Mon, Mar 15, 2010 at 3:08 AM, Clif Dawson <CDAWSON5854@shaw.ca> wrote: > Lot's of Rangers around Victoria ( Vancouver > Island) in the 60's. Real Piets don't need batteries ;o) (although some purists would say, 'real Piets use antifreeze'). Very nice work though! Interesting that you have a rudder bar in the front cockpit. Does that mean you used individual pedals in the pilot's cockpit? -------- Oscar Zuniga San Antonio, TX Air Camper NX41CC Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=290370#290370

That bottom front piece just provides more surface to glue the bottom of the firewall to. (Sorry about ending that sentence with a preposition but I am too lazy right now to make it grammatically correct). rick On Mon, Mar 15, 2010 at 7:00 AM, Mark Roberts <mark.rbrts1@gmail.com> wrote: > Thanks guys.
