Unfortunately, I am not going to be able to make it to Brodhead this year, but
I will be spending most of the following week at that little fly-in/airshow up
in Oshkosh.
Will any of you be making the trip to Oshkosh (with or without a Piet)? Is anyone
aware of any Piet forums this year? Would like to meet some of you in person
if possible.

Doc Mosher will be giving a talk on Thursday around 10AM. The topic is
the Zen of Pietenpols (or something like that). I don't recall exactly
where it will be. The details are in the latest BPA newsletter.

Dan, you say Doc Mosher is talking on Thursday morning at 10am. When does the fly-in
start? I thought it was Friday. Many people have said differing things.

Jeff,
Dan was referring to the forum Doc will be presenting up at Oshkosh on
Thursday 7/29:
http://www.eaaapps.org/moreinfo.aspx?id=1762
<http://www.eaaapps.org/moreinfo.aspx?id=1762>"The Zen of Pietenpol
Homebuilts"
The dates for the Brodhead Piet fly-in are Thursday, July 22 through
Saturday, July 24, per the BPA newsletter and Chapter 431 website. You can
stay through to Sunday, but I think they changed it to not list it as an
official day because the place clears out pretty quick on Sunday anyhow,
what with people heading up to Oshkosh or back home.
The "forum" schedule is in the BPA newsletter, and also on the 431 site:
http://www.eaa431.org/
Here's the blurb from the 431 website:
----------------------------------
*
*
*35th Annual Pietenpol Reunion and Hatz Fly-in*
***July 23-25, 2010.*
EAA Chapter 431 will be hosting supper on Thursday, Friday and Saturday
evenings. Thursday evening=92s menu is Pork BBQ, Friday night will be the
traditional fish boil, and Saturday night is the traditional Pork Chop
Dinner. BBQ sandwiches, hot dogs, chili dogs and chips will be available a
t
the service window from 11am'2pm daily. Saturday morning is hot breakfas
t.
Camping on the airport is allowed with a suggested small donation to the
Brodhead Chapter.

Two or three of the Big Piets are coming to Brodhead and Airventure. We will
be departing Georgia on Thursday am and maybe have an overnight at Frasca
Field in Urbana. Doc talked Frank into having a seminar at Brodhead about
group building the 6 Big Piets and now the pressure is on. If we get any
suggestions for topics, we can modify our seminar to encompass any subject
about building 6 planes in 6 years. Post anything you would like to hear.
If you want to plan a time for all to get together at Oshkosh, I can send
you my cell # and can work it into my schedule of duties.

I swear, I can't win for losing! Took a ride up to Poplar Grove tonight and
the oil temp got up to 82C and the pressure wouldn't go *below* 52psi durin
g cruise and at idle it was at 35. I mean, seriously. Excuse my French, but
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot??
I'm now fairly convinced the pressure gauge is flakier than my Aunt Ethel, t
he way it pops around, but do I put the "old" style spring back in? Jeez!
Any one care to venture a guess?

Not only certificated but certificated by a huge government bureaucracy
called the FAA. Provided by the same government that gives us FEMA (remember
those thousands of new house trailers rotting in some swamp outside
Houston?), and the EPA (ensuring we have clean air to breath by letting us
burn clean, cheap, Ethanol in our cars and most everything else). Yup,
unless a big government bureaucracy approves it, I ain't flying it.
