Just turn the fuel valve off and let it idle until the gas burns out of the carb.
It will die. That is what I used to do on the Luscombe I had. Works every time.

Lorin,
What type of mag switch do you have? I had an A-7 corrode and go bad on
me. They are old and notorious for that. Easy to fix but just something
to think about.

Hi Pieters, I have my engine back on my plane and today I flew it for an hour.
It flies great and all temps are normal. William did a great job with 3 new
pistons and reworking the rt .hand cylinder head. Also he tweaked the timing .
He will have to explain that at Brodhead. Don't forget to ask him. I'll see you

Subject: | NX929DH report; Good to go- Brodhead Wi. |
Hello all,
Well I flew my Piet for 2-1/2 hrs this weekend. I now feel confident enoug
h about the plane and pilot to venture out past the airport perimeter now.
Work permitting, I would like to hook-up with the gaggle that will be pas
sing through here on Thursday afternoon; Jack Phillips, Randy Busch, John
Hoffman, and Dan (the man) Yokum. That would make five of us all arriving
at the same time. Cool.
My prop works GREAT! Even at the slowest of idles, I can hardly keep the
airplane still, even in the grass.
Still have a couple of oil leaks. I was able to plug the two major ones,
so it is a manageable flow :O). As far as that nose-heaviness, I adjusted
the outboard LE of the horizontal stab "down" with the help of the wires.
This worked great, and I almost have it. This week I will replace my trim
bungee cords with larger diameter, so hopefully my trim system will be ab
le to take the rest of it out.
Still trying to figure out why I am nose heavy. I talked to Walt Bowie (Fo
rd A) a while back, and he said his plane is nose heavy also.
I am really looking forward to meeting (again) with everybody on this list
. I will be hanging around my plane a lot. Please stop by and say hello.

Randy, nice topic!- I was stuck with a flat tire today at a pankake break
fast.- I used to work part time at the maint shop there, so I had tools t
o use, no tube though.- I tried a tire tube patch kit and it worked long
enough to taxi 2000 ft from the hanger and then went flat again.- I ended
up having dad bring the old small 600-6 tire and tubes from my hanger 30 m
iles away and flew home with them.- It shot my day all to heck, but there
are worse places to be stuck than an airport.- At least I did not have t
o land on a flat tire so it all worked out.

Subject: | Re: New cylinder - low oil pressure? |
So, I got the new oil pressure gauge installed on Wed night about 10:30
and finally too her out for a spin, today.
There was a 7-8 second lag before any reading came up on the gauge, but
when it did start to increase it was nice and smooth, not the *pop* like
before.
Initial cold oil pressure was 45-50 and only fell to about 42 when the
temp climbed to 175F. At idle it was 15. I'll try to fly it a couple
more time before Thursday, but I think I'll call it good and move on...
