Darn American formats! I even tried to get the local video guy to convert it and he couldnt. Said something about a system he has never seen. (GRC-RXD0)[ASRC Aerospace Corporation]" Subject: Pietenpol-List: DVD finalization process--do not archive I've found a few copies that I've mailed out have not been 'finalized' by my DVD recorder and that causes playback issues on some older DVD players and computer DVD drives. Having found this out I've taken steps to insure the DVD's play on my player before sending them out but every once in a while you get a snag, not technically astute enough in this area to know what it might be. I do know that 1 or 2 out of 12 new DVD's are junk....at least the ones I'm buying which are a brand name but like anything else, when they make a zillion of them in places unknown to me, who knows what kind of (or lack of) quality control they have. Sure, I'd rather he'd bring it in his Piet but you can't have everything. Thanks again Mike. It was $119 plus I think $19 for a memory card. It does everything I want plus more and the still photos are of good qualit y. Here's one or two from that flight on Saturday. Nice and compact, does lots of various functions, menu system is not diffic ult to understand. I must have fiddled with 20 different cameras at Best Buy a few weeks ago o ne evening and spent about 2 hours deciding before I walked away with this one. Very happy. Your mileage may vary. If your airplane has a tank up in the nose and a float-and-rod style fuel level indicator, it looks to me like there was very little fuel in the tank during the flight. If that's just a vent coming off the top of the cap and there is a fuel quantity indicator somewhere else, I didn't spot it. Anyway, the guy in the video isn't any crazier than I am... typical airspeeds and altitudes for my kind of flying. Yes sirreee... it's cooling off down here in TX, too. It's not supposed to climb past the 80s all week! I have the Reklaw Fly-In plotted out for this weekend but a lots of ducks need to line up in a row for me to be able to take 41CC over there. The first duck may fall this afternoon, since I'm scheduled to take my biennial flight review and will be legal to fly again. The nails provide no strength to the ribs at all. I just went to Harbor Freight yesterday and purchased a 23ga pin nailer also, and some 1/2" pins so that I can start on my ribs soon. I'm just waiting on a friend of mine who is plotting out a full size drawing of the rib profile for me, and then the rib building will begin! -------- Billy McCaskill Urbana, IL tail section almost done, starting on ribs soon Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=316490#316490 ________________________________ Message 9 _____________________________________ Time: 05:14:42 PM PST US From: Dave and Connie Subject: Re: Pietenpol-List: Re: Doin' Some Ribs What is the part number on the 23ga pin nailer? I had to go to a local big-box home improvement store to find the 1/2" length pins, though. A box of 3000 cost $6.79, and 3000 pins will last a long time. I do a lot of other woodworking stuff around the house and shop too, so I'll be using the 23ga pin nailer on other projects, albeit with longer pins for the more substantial projects. I also have an 18ga finish nailer/stapler for the projects where the pin nailer won't suffice. -------- Billy McCaskill Urbana, IL tail section almost done, starting on ribs soon Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=316522#316522 ________________________________ Message 12 ____________________________________ Time: 07:37:48 PM PST US From: johnwoods@westnet.com.au Subject: Re: Pietenpol-List: Re: Doin' Some Ribs Just a question or warning. I take it these pins will be removed after the glue has dried. Unless they are coated isn't there a danger of them rusting from the moisture content in the wood? This is why coated nails/pins are used?
