Might be the start of an urban myth.... You gotta give the Kenyan credit for persistence, if not for intelligence, judgment, and engineering. There's a 3 masted schooner here in Maine that's the sea-going (well sort of) version of his airplane. For those of you who are wooden boat aficionados, check out the vessel "Raw Faith". Pay particular attention to the Wooden Boat magazine thread. I've seen her up close and the pictures don't do justice to reality. It's far worse. Her primary construction timbers came from Home Depot and things go downhill from there. I do believe that both entrepreneurs are twin sons of different mothers.
