Well guys, I pulled the prop of the piet and put on the secret wepon vortel ator tape.- I sanded the backs of the prop blades and will re-paint and s tatic balance the prop tomorrow.- I suspect with the vortilator tape and a corvair i should get at least Mach 0.78.- If you think you hear a sonic boom, it is probably just my crank slapping the sides of the crankcase.- I just had to try out this 30 dollar gimmick, Dad bought it almost a year ago, so I should have time to fly a couple hrs with this "Miricale Tape", b efore blasting off for Brodhead. I'm planning to leave Lebanon TN sometime Thursday, fly part way and find a nice, soft hotel bed Thursday night. So plan to be in by noon on Friday, provided I don't turn my sectional upside down and wind up in L.A. (that's lower Alabama btw). -------- Dale McCleskey N7035N Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=346875#346875

Rob Bach will be there on Saturday around noon. Not sure which Piet he's bringing - probably the Blue One. Scotty, I think you'll find that most builders that have raised the rear turtledeck, also raised the forward decking by a similar amount (or maybe slightly less). As long as you keep the changes small, they will be hard to detect visually, but may make the plane fit you better (assuming you're above average in height.) Bill C. Dan, Excellent question. I have been informed that I will no longer be performing full power run-ups at home (at least while my wife is there). I ran it enough to know that the static full power rpm is about 3100. That's important for Corvairs, and I'll confirm with WW at Brodhead that the static is OK. I would love to hook up some fish scales to that tree, though! Looks like it is going to be pretty windy on wednesday afternoon.- I have been checking the forcast, and chicago area is calling for SSW17mph with g ust into the 30's by early afternoon.- That will slow me down!- It will make me work to keep the airplane in one piece as well.- I guess I will just have to play it by ear, if it gets too bad I will wait untill thursday to leave.- It's gonna be hotter than hell's furnace as well. - Shad

Gary, I have an industrial fish scale for you to use. I can bring it to Brodhead and give it to you to use. Can you take it back on the airplane? I only us ed it once, to check my "thrust". after I carved my prop. My result was 260 lbs thrust. You can get a good id ea how yours is performing if you can use it. Let me know. Weather permitting, N30PP will be there as well. Leaving Wednesday night from Marshalltown, Iowa - overnighting in Manchester, Iowa with family - then Thursday morning showing up in Brodhead. If I could only figure out how to fit my air-conditioner and generator for the tent in the GN - I'd be a much happy camper... Hi, Per your requests I will be bringing a guest with me to Brodhead on Saturday. She is a 20 year old single female named Talia (pic attached) and she would love to fly in a Pietenpol. Is anyone willing to help her into the front cockpit of their Pietenpol and take this young lady (cough! cough!) flying? Glenn -------- This e-mail was written using 100% post-consumer recycled data. I can bring it to Brodhead and give it to you to use. Can you take it back on the airplane? I only used it once, to check my "thrust". after I carved my prop. My result was 260 lbs thrust. You can get a good idea how yours is performing if you can use it. Let me know. Dan Helsper Poplar Grove, IL.
