Subject: PLEASE READ - 2011 List Fund Raiser Kickoff - 21 Years
Strong!! Dear Listers, This year marks 21 years of the Email Lists and Forums at Matronics! I've been running these forums for nearly half my life! I've made some great friends over the years and had countless email and personal conversations with builders about aircraft building and flying. What a great community of people! The advice, support, and friendship has be invaluable over the years. To support the continued operation and upgrade of the List servers, each November I hold a PBS-like fund raiser. It is solely through the Contributions of List members that these Matronics Lists are possible. There is NO advertising to support the Lists. You might have noticed the conspicuous lack of flashing banners and annoying pop-ups on the Matronics Email List email messages and web site pages including: * Matronics List Forums http://forums.matronics.com * Matronics List Search Engine http://www.matronics.com/search * Matronics List Browser http://www.matronics.com/listbrowse * Matronics List List Wiki http://wiki.matronics.com You don't find advertising on any of these pages because I believe in a List experience that is completely about the sport we all enjoy - airplanes! During the month of November, I will be sending out List messages every couple of days reminding everyone that the Fund Raiser is underway. I ask for your patience and understanding during the Fund Raiser and throughout these regular messages. The Fund Raiser is only financial support mechanism I have to pay all of the bills associated with running these Lists. Your personal Contribution counts! Once again, this year we've got another terrific line up of free gifts to go along with the various Contribution levels. Many of these gifts have been provided by some of the vary members and vendors that you'll find on Matronics Lists and they have been either donated or provided at substantially discounted rates. This year, these generous people include: * Bob Nuckolls of the AeroElectric Connection http://www.aeroelectric.com * Andy Gold of the Builder's Bookstore http://www.buildersbooks.com These are extremely generous guys and I encourage you to visit their respective web sites. Each one offers a unique and very useful aviation-related product line. I would like publicly to thank Bob, and Andy for their generous support of the Lists again this year!! You can make your List Contribution using any one of three secure methods including using a credit card, PayPal, or by personal check. All three methods afford you the opportunity to select one of this year's free gifts with a qualifying Contribution amount!! To make your Contribution, please visit the secure site below: http://www.matronics.com/contribution I would like to thank everyone in advance for their generous financial AND moral support over the years! Sad news for Pietenpol drivers indeed... I'm glad I'm in the part of OH where trees are not very common except when I fly by the rivers... I guess no one then knows this piet? It would be interesting to know what engine he has (couldn't see anything from the pictures). As for the "landing" options other than abort the take off sooner, I can't see much other options than hit the trees... My Dad crashed and survived "landing" an Piper Apache in the Amazon and he told me he aimed between two big trees and tried to maintain his attitude until the end... (but that's another story). I'm curious on the shoulder harness on a Piet; from where are they mounted, the one I fly doesn't and I look into it, but doesn't seem to have much options on where to mount them unless you rip the fuselage skin of. Indeed I hope Ronald is as lucky as my Dad! just about to hop on a Piet! safe flying! -------- 560 Dreamer Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=356584#356584

Typical know-it-all aviator who think his shit does not stink! Let me guess... you actually built a pietenpol? Hi folks I just KNOW someone will make something from the subject but seriously, I have a good source of ash for those who need it for the cross members and/or engine logs. I can deliver to Sun n Fun this spring for free, most anywhere in FL for the same, or the cost of UPS/USPS/Fedex anywhere. Contact me off line with your needs. I got about an hr on the piet today.- It was in the mid 50's and just a b it of a breeze, clear and dusty from the harvesters.- The midwest is an a wsome place to fly this time of year, you can land in about 90% of the area under you, it is mostly flat cut off fields.- I am shooting to break the 300hr mark on 92GB before putting it up for the winter, 2.5 hrs to go.- - Shad

Ya know, Shad, it's getting cold in Austin, too. Almost unbearable. I'm going to gut it out on Saturday, though. Supposed to be in the upper 70s but we'll fly anyway. I'll have to put on jeans instead of shorts. Congratulations on 300 hours! Got to spend a very pleasant evening with Ben Charvet and his lovely wife, Carol. Ben's got a beautiful red & cream piet which he flies a lot. Really nice! He's also got a Model A truck project which is truly cool. Thanks for letting me stop by, guys! Jerry Dotson was nice enough to check in with me after my plea for Piet visits in Florida. He's 6 hours away so we'll make that happen another time. I really appreciate him calling. He's in the panhandle so I'm hoping he'll let us stop by when we finally make the trip to Sun & Fun. do not archive -------- Kevin "Axel" Purtee NX899KP Austin/Georgetown, TX Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=356605#356605 Attachments: http://forums.matronics.com//files/ben_and_kevin_184.jpg

Subject: As luck would have it and so the rant is now early but
the rant nonetheless Yes its true, as Luck would have it and early this year down trodden and out of work I decided to try my luck at magnanimous gestures of proactive yes its true lawn care. I got the old tractor battery charged up drove the cart down to the brush pile and warmed up the tractor I had just repaired. Full scale deck rebuild, hangar style, zerks and all. Sears doesn't put them in so you blow out mower spindles when the bearings go away. Not this guy juss too dam smart for the old Sears dry bearing trick. So smart as I am, I got the rebuilt out fueled her up with the special blend of my secret treated, naturalized and stabilized fuel, yes sir I did that and proud to tell ya bout it. I got me a good cut going and drover over the leaves on the ground reducing the rake out and blower time. I am all over this. The next morning at 0810 or there about's I noticed the white stuff beginning to appear and more and more appeared until the grass became white and the leaves mulched an driven down into the depths of the rhizomes and tillers of the fescue, I was doing it and without might I say without the encouraging tone of my lovely life partner and voice of all knowledge, yes the Princess of the Nile and she who shall not be denied. There we were all ground up the lawn white with yes the noreaster snow of the east coast whopper wet snow storm in full force. Life is good and the lawn officially dead, nothing could have survived that bit of weather, not even the trees and branches fallen due to the storm. But yet well before the official beginning of Buildapalooza 2011 and 12. some how being out of work gives buildapalooza much less meaning but still a viable on my calendar and no longer the holiday of the troll as in a real hangar, no more cellar dweller for me. Paying for the hangar well that plan has yet to experience some additional growth and development issues that need to be ironed out. Not withstanding though, here we are on the cusp of Buildapalooza and ding dong the yard is dead ding done the stinkin yard is dead, hi ho the merry O the stinking yard is dead. But now since all the leaves have yet to fall it looks like we have another tractor day of leaf grinding to continue the weed and weed growth cycle. It just seems too early for the dead yard rant but its here and so here is the annual dead yard rant with 4 part harmony and feeling. Ding dong the yard is dead, ding dong the stinkin yard is dead now back to Lancaster Aeroplan Works for more building, gluing and rebuilding septin it gets cold in there and the ceiling is next , no sense trying to heat the upper space and letting the heat go away. So tarp city here we come in preparation for you guessed it Buildapalooza 2011- 2012. I wonder if I'll actually get anything accomplished. The problem with having a shop and tools there is so much other stuff you can do and make its just amazing how quickly the hours of light and warmth seem to evaporate in the mangar that's short for man hangar. Okay got to keep focused flying machines. Oh yes and with the gas grill 2 fridges filled with adult and adulterated beverage its no big thing to throw a dog or 3 on the grill for lunch. If I ever get to building life will return to good and accomplishments abound but for now the stinkin yard is dead! Thanks be to snow........and early storms. note to self rebuild carb on snowblower John Go in peace the rant has ended!
