Subject: | Contributions Down By 20%... |
Dear Listers,
As of today, Contributions to the Matronics List Fund Raiser are lagging behind
last year at this time by roughly 20%. I have a Fund Raiser each year simply
to cover my operating costs for the Lists. I *do not* accept any advertising
income to support the Lists and rely solely on the Contributions of members to
keep the expenses paid.
I run all of my own servers and they are housed here locally, and the Internet
connection is a commercial-grade, T1 connection with public address space. I
also maintain a full backup system that does nightly backups of all List-related
data so that in the event of a server crash, all of the Lists and the many
years of List archive data could be restored onto a new server in a matter of
hours.
All of this costs a fair amount of money, not to mention a significant amount of
my personal time. I have a Fund Raiser each year to cover these costs and I
ask that members that feel they receive a benefit from my investments make a
modest Contribution each year to support the continued operation and upgrade of
these services.
If you enjoy the Lists, please make a Contribution today. I also offer some incentive
gifts for larger Contribution levels. At the Contribution Web Site, you
can use a credit card, Paypal, or personal check to show your support for the
continuation of these services:
http://www.matronics.com/contribution
Or, drop a personal check in the mail to:

Well, as Jack Phillips warned, my weight has been creeping up ever since be
ing down here in west Tennessee (hush puppies, biscuits and gravy, fried ca
tfish, barbeque, chess pie etc). The breakfast special at the local downtow
n Paris, TN diner is only $4.99; two eggs, sausage, hash browns, toast, bis
cuits and gravy. Every Thursday morning with the guys from church. Yum. You
are right Dan, since I got on the scale for the first time in a while and
I am all the way up to 154 lbs. Time for a diet (after tomorrow).
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL!!

Subject: | Was Aluminum head, now Chess Pie |
Chess Pie is an old Southern tradition. Legend has it that a plantation
owner informed his cook that he was having a dinner party that evening
so
she needed to make something special. She had no apples to make an
apple
pie, in fact all she had was butter, eggs, sugar and flour. She made up
the
pies using these ingredients and they were a big hit. When one of the
guests asked her what she called this wonderful dessert, she smiled and
said
=93It=92s jes=92 pie,=94 and Chess Pie was born.
Here=92s my grandmother=92s recipe:
4 eggs
2 cups suger
1-1/2 sticks butter
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
Mix ingredients and pour into a pie shell. Bake at 350=B0 for 45
minutes, or
until well browned on top.
Very sweet and absolutely guarenteed to be fattening. There are many
variations such as chocolate chess, lemon chess and coconut chess. All
are
good.

She who must be obeyed just told me that we are having:
Pumkin, Pecan, Buttermilk, and raisin cream Pie.
On top of:
Roast turkey with dressing, Sweet potatoes (with marshmallows on top), Green beans,
fruit salad, corn, cranberry sauce, deviled eggs.
One leaf of lettuce will be placed on a side table, just in case anyone is interested.
Having said all that! The best thing we have done to increase my load carrying
capacity is to lose 20 pounds, and my wife has lost 25. Between us we are now
able to carry 45 more pounds in our Vtail.

Subject: | Re: Was Aluminum head, now Chess Pie |
Alton Brown talked about Chess pie on his Thanksgiving Good Eats
special. He had the family tree of pies drawn out. He claimed that
Chess came from the British Cheese pie. They were named that because
they set up like cheese curds. He put pecan and shoo fly pie in the
same category.
They have eggs and dairy in them so they must be healthy.

My mother made cornmeal pies. I have never seen them anywhere but my family gatherings.
I am sure others make them too.
They are different but good. My sister(79) continues to make them. It is not heart
healthy having 6 eggs and 3/4 pound of butter not margarine.
Of course that makes 3 pies!
3 c. sugar
6 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. yellow cornmeal
3 sticks butter, melted
3 uncooked pie shells
Mixture 1: Add vanilla to cooled melted butter.
Mixture 2: Combine sugar and cornmeal, then beat in the eggs.
Combine mixture 1 and mixture 2. Mix well. Pour into pie shells and bake at 350
degrees until knife blade comes out clean (about 30 minutes).

Chess Pie is an old Southern tradition. Legend has it that a
plantation owner informed his cook that he was having a dinner party
that evening so she needed to make something special. She had no apples
to make an apple pie, in fact all she had was butter, eggs, sugar and
flour. She made up the pies using these ingredients and they were a big
hit. When one of the guests asked her what she called this wonderful
dessert, she smiled and said "It's jes' pie," and Chess Pie was born.
Here's my grandmother's recipe:
4 eggs
2 cups suger
1-1/2 sticks butter
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
Mix ingredients and pour into a pie shell. Bake at 350=B0 for 45
minutes, or until well browned on top.
Very sweet and absolutely guarenteed to be fattening. There are many
variations such as chocolate chess, lemon chess and coconut chess. All
are good.

That turns out not to be the case. I made 2 pecan pies this afternoon.
Pecan pies are mostly Karo Syrup, Chess pies have no Karo syrup in them.

Chess Pie is an old Southern tradition. Legend has it that a

dessert, she smiled and said "It's jes' pie," and Chess Pie was born.
Here's my grandmother's recipe:
4 eggs
2 cups suger
1-1/2 sticks butter
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
Mix ingredients and pour into a pie shell. Bake at 350=B0 for 45
minutes, or until well browned on top.
Very sweet and absolutely guarenteed to be fattening. There are many
variations such as chocolate chess, lemon chess and coconut chess. All
are good.

Are you talking about the lower landing gear fittings? I have several
pictures of the inner fitting but I don't seem to have a good picture of the
outer. This is the best I can find that shows both of them.
http://westcoastpiet.com/images/Chris%20Tracy/images/IMG_2974.JPG
Once you get the landing gear legs cut make paper patterns of the two
fittings, transfer the bolt hole locations across the gear leg and you will
see how they go together. If you follow the steps on how I built the
fittings, it will work out fine. Whatever you do don't make them before the
gear legs are cut because they may or may not fit correctly.
I built my upper gear fittings like Mike Cuy's
http://westcoastpiet.com/images/Mike%20Cuy%20A-65%20Piet/images/Piet_landing
_gear_fitting_sketch_on_fuselage.jpg
and see attached sketch. I had to cut a channel through the upper gear leg
to clear the fitting. The leg sits flush against the fuselage bottom plywood.
Not sure how this is going to work out once it gets covered.

I forgot to attach the sketch of my upper gear fittings.. They are modified
from the way the plans show. The plans show the fitting coming up through
the floor. The original F&G plans do not have an ash cross member like the
