Did the first engine run in the airframe yesterday!! (the guy that built it ground ran it) Very uneventful. Ran beautifully, pressure good, no leaks and the wiring SEEMS correct. Just did a few short runs to ck the installation. Sure sounded nice with those mufflers and long pipes. She's back in the shop and now that I know the installation is sound, it's full speed ahead with finishing the airframe stuff. Douwe

Williams, - I don't know what the angle is on the spar cuts. My calculations show a 1 d egree dihedral angle on a 158.5" wing section yields about a 2.766" rise at the wing tip.- My dihedral, if any, will be a lot less then this. - My strut length will be what is required to achieve the required dihedral.. .if any. - Sacrificial lift will be zero. - I agree, the plane will be stable. - - Michael Perez Karetaker Aero www.karetakeraero.com

This year he isn't going, so I'm planning some Air-camping, loading all the camping gear I can fit into my front cockpit and center section and flying over. Anybody else planning to camp this year so I'm not hanging out by myself? -- Ben Charvet Titusville, Fl Really hoping his Pietenpol finally makes it to Lakeland

I'm planning on making Triple Tree this year. Supposed to be the best fly-in south of Brodhead, and I don't have to fly over the mountains to get to it. One of the things about this thread is that it forced me to find synapses that hadn't fired in the 40+ years since I got out of college with a EE degree. It hurt!!! I WAS lucky to have met the USAF's requirements to fly and was proud to serve my country for 20 years. Like most of my fellow veterans, the service was its own reward and damn few of us seek any accolades for it. We know too many people who have sacrificed everything and are forgotten. At military funerals, the widow is presented with an American flag and generally words to the affect that it's the thanks of a grateful nation. I've done that presentation. It's the only thing I think about when people thank me for my service. It seems everyone everyone wishes that they could be good at something else. I have little artistic talent and am amazed by the stuff that Douwe does with his hands and imagination. I wish I could sing barbershop harmony. Not gonna happen. Doesn't mean I can't appreciate them. One last thought... What's new? Cee over lambda. If you get that, I'm betting you never had a serious romantic relationship until at least your 20th birthday. There WERE advantages to not being a nerd. Hope to see some of you at Sun N Fun. Dave do not archive Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=368328#368328
