Subject: Bungees
About 10 years ago. Seriously, I get about 3 - 4 years from a set of bungees, but they tend to wear out by chafing rather than age. Mine is the straight axle gear and the bungees chafe against the V-block. If you have the split axle gear, there's no reason to cahnge them until you start seeing sagging indicating a reduction in elasticity. Still, I'd think 10 years would be approaching the limit. They are made of natural rubber and they do age. Mine are 13 years old, when should I replace them? Steve Ruse Norman, OK On Jun 16, 2012, at 6:01 PM, V Groah <vgroah@hotmail.com> wrote: Talk to Mike. I helped him with ours and they seem ok. I would take photos of the hold downs but the plane is now at Porterville airport 30 miles away. I would be glad to next week. Mike used vice grips on the waste end for a handle to pull the tension. We used a strap clamp, and a second safety clamp to secure the ends. We put all we had into it. Yes it takes two to do it right. Most of the flight was at 1900 and indicated 70-75. Again I have no idea as to the accuracy of my airspeed. Still smiling. I landed at my brother's runway (55FD). It will stay there until I am comfortable in it. His runway is a lot longer than mine. Checked out the videos on Facebook! You have built a fine looking airplane. Your aviator skills appear to match your craftsmanship. Just got in from gluing up a few parts. Figure I will be where you are in 5 years or so, thanks for helping us aspiring Piet pilots keep our eye on the prize! Thanks good Pietenpol people. I might get to fly again this afternoon. I had an issue with a sparkplug this morning. Mag check and the right mag had a dead plug......well I didn't have a spare so after digging through several piles of sparkplugs at 18FD I finally got a used one. That in no way has dampened my spirits. Still have this silly grin on my face(see pic). do not archive -------- Jerry Dotson 59 Daniel Johnson Rd Baker, FL 32531 First flight June 16,2012 Started building July, 2009 21" wheels Lycoming O-235 C2C Jay Anderson CloudCars prop 76 X 44 Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=375931#375931 Attachments: http://forums.matronics.com//files/a59_130.jpg
