Hey Fred, I didn't make it to Beach City. The thunderstorms kept me away. I don't have any kind of trim system or tabs. My nose tank holds 14.5 gallons. When it is full I do have to hold some back stick, but it is so minimal I really don't even notice it. Even when flying cross-countries all day long it's no big deal. You'll probably get several different ideas on this but I've never seen it as anything I would need. Subject: 3-piece wing
I concur that the one piece wing cannot weigh much less, maybe 5 pounds max??... maybe??? My observations seem to reveal the chief reasons for building the one-piece are: 1. SOME weight savings 2. SOME building simplicity, though offset in my opinion FAR OFFSET by the PIA caused by it's size through the building process 3. It's the purist form of Pietenpol wing 4. and maybe the most important reason I've seen is. the all important COOLNESS FACTOR!! "Oh and. did you notice?.that's a one-piece wing up there." If any of these, or a combination of the above are important enough to you, then go ahead and build a one-piece. I'm personally very glad I have the three-piece for all the reasons stated by others. $.02 Douwe

Compromise and meet half way as in a two piece. Supposedly about 7 pound saving in weight compared to three piece. -------- Adrian M Winnipeg, MB Canada Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=376548#376548 Attachments: http://forums.matronics.com//files/dsc00561_790.jpg http://forums.matronics.com//files/dsc00105_497.jpg

Recently, someone posted the need for a ride from OSH to MDW after AirVenture is over. I wasn't able to find the post, hence this new post. On Sunday, July 29, I'll be driving to MDW early afternoon. Should arrive there around 6 pm... Exact time of arrival per wife's flight. If anyone needs a lift, let me know offline. -------- Tom Kreiner Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=376549#376549

I just hope I get the one I'm working on finished before I pass on! I have never considered building another one. I might think more about it after I have flown the current one for a while. There are some things I would have done differently had I known before hand what would happen. If there's anyone on this list who will finish and fly, it's you, Chuck. For those of you who don't know Chuck's background: he's a former WWII naval aviator. I've heard some of the stories second hand, and I'm pretty darn sure he's the real deal. And, perhaps more significantly, Chuck saw the light, achieved enlightenment, and eventually retired as an army warrant officer aviator. Chuck can correct any mistakes. do not archive -------- Kevin "Axel" Purtee NX899KP Austin/San Marcos, TX Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=376556#376556

Only use blue striping tape for color breaks. You will get bleed from just about any paper tape (green or blue 3M) Here is the trick I use: put your green tape with paper about 1/8 inch from the color line. Then go over it with the blue striping tape. After painting and before the paint is dry, pull off the blue striping tape by pulling it back over itself and toward the wet paint. That way any "whiskers" will fall on the wet paint and not the contrasting color. I'll send you a pic of one I did about a month ago. I'm assuming a good quality automotive tape would work fine right? Douwe Do not archive

Not _just_ to carry pax... If you want to fly, you gotta have that Flight Review...
