You must have seen the photos that were taken yesterday with the two piets
together. The wing gap seals are still off for the inspector to see the wi
ng mounts. We have not had time to reinstall them yet. Yes it is a standa
rd three piece wing. As for the engine we have made sure that all the bolt
s are securely wired as to insure a firm mount on the prop. That way it ca
n turn either way securely. You know=2C you have to be flexible about thes
e things. No use getting into a rut and have the thing turn the same way a
s every one else. They say a little variety in life is good. This way we
can fly with you and with the counter rotating props it would be like flyin
g a twin. Makes for a smooth flight. Lets try it at the west coast Piet m
eet at Frazier Lake next june.

We slipped that one through the inspection. HA No worm drive clamps on a
ny pressure lines of any kind. All aircraft screw on lines. Safetied.

In all seriousness. it is good to have you out west. If I ever go to to my
place in Oregon again I will try to stop in on the way through. I hope yo
u can make it to the west coast Piet meet next year at Frazier Lake Ca. It
would be a long flight for a Piet but you will meet some of the nicest air
men in the country. Markel even came one year. Hope he can again some tim
e soon. We hope to have several new Piets at the meet next year. Vic

      > Wow=2C Vic and Mike- that is a beautiful airplane! Well done! It looks li
ke you'll have no problem 3-pointing it in full stall with it sitting up on
the tall spoked wheels like that. And a very handsome and classic paint sc
      heme.
      >
      > I just see a few problems with it. For one=2C I've never seen one built w
ith a 2-piece wing like that=2C with the starboard wing longer than the por
t one. And don't forget to install the gap cover where the wings join.
      >
      > Another thing=2C the propeller is installed backwards and may try to unsc
rew itself from the airplane if you start up the engine with it turning bac
kwards. Everyone knows that real airplane engines turn clockwise when viewe
d from the cockpit. Just a caution for you on that little faux pas.

      Hi Pieters,

Mike and Vic have built a beautiful Piet. I very much approve of the colors they
have chosen. The wood work is amazing. All they need to do now is fly it.
We had a great visit and I am looking forward to flying with him in the near
future. Congratulations to both Mike and Vic..

How about that varnish job in the interior!! Mike says he just vacuums up
the flies off the floor boards, 'cuz the flies just slide off the paint
      job...
