As most of you know he has recovered at an amazing rate. Friday Kevin was cleared to fly by the Army flight Surgeon. I'm not sure I can keep his feet on the ground, he is practically floating. WW was able to retrieve the engine from FBG in order to assess the damage to the engine... which remarkably is in good shape, but in need of some TLC. My confusion is the fact that the wires have, in effect, two conductors...the wire and the shielding. My AM4 mags have a single post for the P-lead, so I am not sure what to do/how to connect the shielding. The engine case or engine mount would work if the mount is electrically connected to the engine. I'm not sure what standard practice is for that type mag. I understand more wing area = more lift. What are the negatives and how significant are they (decrease or increase in speed, other)? Somebody suggested widening the wing center section. What are the limitations of widening the center section, assuming that you do not intend to widen the fuselage? As an alternative, is it practical to extend the wing tips 12-18" on each side? What major changes are needed to support the longer wings? Just be sure to build a right and a left. Forget speed, you cant do much to improve that. The center section will give you more room for fuel.
