If you will google the following terms, you will find a wealth of information on the Stromberg Carb: Neal Wright Stromberg float level Neal Wright Stromberg mixture The articles have excellent sketches, and detail that has been lost or forgotten as the guys who earned that knowledge some 60 (or more) years ago are no longer with us. Paul-- my stainless discs are 1/8" thick and work fine. I personally woul dn't have gone any thinner in the effort of saving weight. You can build a stock Pietenpol with goodies like brake s without it being too heavy.

Mike do find your manual brakes provide enough stopping force. I was planning on Hydrolic. Sent from my iPad Jack Textor On Dec 12, 2012, at 8:38 AM, "Cuy, Michael D. Jack--Yes. The Comet racing go-kart brakes I'm using do provide enough aut hority to help in ground taxiing, turning, but mostly are used for runup and th ey only hold me to about 1400 rpm. I never use the brakes on takeoff or landing as they aren't nece ssary unless you get yourself into a dire straits approximating an impending ground loop. Your hydraulics should provide a little more umph I would imagin e. Mike C. PS- the photo shows the 4130-fabricated brake pedals I made up. Heel brakes very similar to what you would find in an Aeronca or Cub. Spring return action, easy to operate.
