The Rotec radial is my favorite too, Jake. Good choice. They look and perform great! I am choosing to use a ROTEC radial to mimic Bernard Pietenpol's Velie radial ship he built in 1931. My choice is for looks and reliability but the Velie would sure be nice. It certainly would sound better. For the price they are asking you could buy it and put $10,000 more into rebuilding it and still spend no more than the ROTEC. It all depends on what you want to build and why you are embarked on this journey....... I spent about 16 hours in the shop over the past two days an it feels very gratifying....... Any choice you make will bring a neat airplane - the airplane you build - into the skies......... I have a few hours behind a Velie in a Monocoupe, and would rather have a Model A in front of me. Velies are known to throw pushrods and do other unhealthy things. I fly it around the airport for 15 minutes, but wouldn't want to take it cross country, although I am easily talked into that kind of thing.... Incidentally Frank P. has what's left of Bernie's original Velie Air Camper, fuselage and some other parts, so it might fly again someday- - -------- do not archive Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=391062#391062
