Looks great Jack; (jealous). Does using the Stewart system mean you paint with
Stewart paint?

Actuallly, Paul, Stewart has a paint and painting system, but I think that
most of the guys when referring to "the Stewart system" are really just
refering to the method of attaching the fabric and tapes using Stewart's
Ekobond glue. I also think most of them are using exterior house paint. I
plan to use both techniques when I get to that point. I refer you to
Stewart's web site videos that explain the glueing process. Chuck

Paul, in my last reply I used the term "exterior paint." I should have used
"extlerior Latex house paint." I refer you to an article written by Julius
Junge in the January 2013 issue of the Pietenpol Newsletter. If you are not

Thanks for clarifying Chuck. Just wanted to verify what I thought I knew. I subscribe
to the newsletter, but out on a trip right now. Thanks; Paul

Subject: | Almost Finished With Wing Ribs |
A quick question as I am currently working on rib #20 and expect to be finished
with wing ribs in the next couple of weeks.
Instead of moving on to the wing spar, I plan on working on the tail feathers next
as I have the wood (thanks again to Dave Aldrich) for that. It may be a while
before I do the spars and attach the ribs. I know that I need to seal the
wood at some point, and I thought I had read it was better to attach to the spar
and then seal the wood so as to have a good glue seal between the ribs and
the spar.
So my question is this - can I/should I seal the ribs, but not where the wood attaches
to the spar, or just not worry about it for now? If I leave them unsealed,
should I leave them in the house, as opposed to the unheated uncooled workshop?
Thanks in advance for the answers.

Terry don't sweat it for now unless you plan to store them out in the elements
uncovered. I actually think its good for the wood to breath and continue the drying
process. I'm covering the tail currently. A couple of years ago I finished
the tail and then varnished. Before covering I re-torqued the hinges. It took
a couple turns on the wrench to do so.
