I have been curious about the plans that Keri Ann Price sells for her 3 pc. wing mod. I wonder how they differ from the std plans. -------- Joe Pringle Atlanta, GA Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=401061#401061 ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 06:47:12 AM PST US From: "C N Campbell" Subject: Re: Pietenpol-List: Re: Progress this Weekend I made my center-section per the original 3-piece wing drawing. This was before I realized it could be made larger to accomodate a larger fuel tank or storage space. I would have made the CS spars longer but leaving the vertical strut and pulley fittings at the same place. The diagonal strut fittings would move out to the ends of the spars. It would take a little redesign of the metal fittings but it would be worth it. The length of the wing panels could be modified to make the total wing length the same. There are some pictures some where (probably in the West Coast Piet section of pictures) that show just what I mean. Someone has already done this so you would not be breaking new ground. Then it moved to a semi truck trailer, th en an old milking barn. When my wife and I started looking at houses in 200 7, she swears that the main thing that swayed me about the house we bought was that it had a 3- car garage. I confess, I did measure to make sure I co uld put the wings on the Piet in it. Her plans have 4 semi solid ribs that butt against eachother and the wing attach fittings hang slightly below the under surface. All this allows for relatively quick removal of wings. No strip of wood or tape to remove at seam. A small access panel in under surface to access aileron cable disconnect. I made my center section wider and will have cabane struts on slight angle (like the look). -------- Paul Donahue Started 8-3-12 do not archive Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=401067#401067 ________________________________ Message 6 _____________________________________ Time: 07:34:17 AM PST US Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: corvair college #24 registration From: "pringljo" I have heard that you will be doing another Corvair College in the Fall of 2013. Can you please point me to some info about this, including dates and how to register? I am glad to hear that you and our Piet friends seem to have missed the vast part of the destruction. Still in our prayers all those that were effected. Very sad. Crazy!! When I moved my other project (Flying Squirrel) from TX up to OR, I just bought a roll of that plastic film stuff at my local U-Haul Store. It comes on a roll so if you get a roll of moving tape or packing tape and a roll of that plastic film, you and a helper can easily cocoon your airplane project in a sturdy, weathertight cover in about 15 minutes. The roll I got had spool handles so we just wrapped it tightly, passing the spool under and over and back and forth until everything looked good. Tape here and there in spots that we thought might get a lot of buffeting helped. The stuff tends to stick to itself so if you overlap it a decent amount on each pass, it makes a really nice cocoon. Start from the nose and work back so the laps are "with the wind", not against it. I drove 2200 miles through a LOT of rainy weather and not a drop got inside. -------- Oscar Zuniga Medford, OR Air Camper NX41CC "Scout" A75 power Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=401099#401099 ________________________________ Message 12 ____________________________________ Time: 07:26:30 PM PST US Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: updates please From: "Chris Rusch" Going to the airport on the 1st of June to get the wings put on. -------- NX321LR Fully Assembled Tail assembly and ailerons covered and painted.
