UNCLASSIFIED Douwe, You forgot to throw the joker out of your deck of cards. Looks well thought out. Reminds me of my Light Infantry days. If you want it you have to carry it. We would carefully consider each item. Playing cards were cut in half. Toilet paper was taken off of the roll (Cardboard adds up). Full sized sleeping mats were cut down so that they just fit under your torso, three foot long and 15 inches wide. Unless it was dangerous cold, no sleeping bag, just a poncho and light quilted liner. You could cuddle with a buddy for warmth. When MRE's (combat rations) were issued you went through it and only took the items you eat. No need in carrying something I will throw away. No tent, that is what a poncho is for. Just a heads-up in case anyone's flying to Brodhead from the south-west. Noticed a couple TFR's about 55 miles to the south-west of Brodhead today. One centered at Rock Island, another at Galesburg. - Pat Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=405238#405238

Gorgeous photo! What GREAT visibility! I love the weather behind a frontal passage like that one! You're probably even a bit CHILLY Douwe! From my experience (and getting older) that makes for great performance but it makes you have to pee more often. Thank goodness for the inflight relief bottle...especially with headwinds when you don't want to make a stop just to drain your sump. Mike C.

I flew back to Lagrange and now I am flying to Madison tomorrow on delta . Wish my Piet was IFR. I was in and out of the clouds from Lagrange to just below Chattanooga when I did a 180 for back home. see ya,ll tomorrow. gardiner. Kevin; I'll weigh in on a couple of your bullet points. -GREAT idea on the deHavilland 'hump' fuel tank! I think it fits the period look perfectly. -landing gear geometry: you already know that William Wynne will fix you up with a very strong recommendation for how and where to place the gear to give good handling and W&B. Take advantage. Also, learn from his recent blog post regarding 'captive' shock springs on the gear legs. I'm thinking of converting my open springs to the captive style that he recently fabricated... but that's way down on my list ;o) -I can absolutely relate to Shelley's wishes on the front seat front edge. In fact, I feel the same way about the pilot's seat. I've flown quite a few hours as navigator in Scout, up front, and the problem is that my tail bones rest quite solidly on the seat, but upper thighs and glutes do not contribute much to the support, so I find myself shifting position after 30-45 minutes too. The front seat has the additional drawback of being not much larger than a postage stamp, so the tail bones support all of one's weight. I would go for some firm Temperfoam pads but the stuff is expensive and I'm not so sure it would help. I really don't have a solution except "keep trying stuff, and let us know what works". -------- Oscar Zuniga Medford, OR Air Camper NX41CC "Scout" A75 power Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=405277#405277

Steve; "clothes make the man- and with me, appearance is everything;o) I think I'm going to go for Aero Trainers again. I'm pretty hard on tires, so I'll stay cheap. I do like the look of plain, fat, ribbed tires on Scout. -------- Oscar Zuniga Medford, OR Air Camper NX41CC "Scout" A75 power Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=405278#405278

Scott; Great idea about saving the old tube from the last changeout. For sure, that will guarantee that I won't need the spare tube ;o) And I have thought about retrofitting the spoked wheels onto Scout, but the fit between the gear leg pivots and the fuselage mount points is super-snug and it's not that easy. I would have to essentially remove and re-mount the fuselage fittings to the longerons and fuselage, and I don't want to do that. I'll fly with spoked wheels vicariously through some of the other Piet guys here, and save the spoked wheel gear for something else (Corky: hint, hint). -------- Oscar Zuniga Medford, OR Air Camper NX41CC "Scout" A75 power Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=405279#405279
