He's in his 90's....retired OBGYN. Perhaps he can give you his e-mail and or phone so you can hear about your plane directly from the builder without searching anywhere else. They were routed from the horns on the stick, crossing each other to a pulley mounted on the sdiewalls. Then they are routed straight up behind the instrument panel and to the wing root. The plans are not clear and photos I have seen don't seem to have this feature. They look like they simply cross each other and go straight up through the back side of the instrument panel. Opinions? This is particularly true for transport category. Most are swept wing so leading edge of the wing is meaningless. Same with other commonly used GA ones like firewall, prop flange and so on. Since location of the datum is completely arbitrary, most big aircraft use a point in front of the plane. That way, all of the arms are positive and the math is slightly simpler when changing things like radomes that might be forward of, say, a front bulkhead datum. FWIW, the original Piper factory paperwork for our J-3 shows TWO datums -- the leading edge of the wing and the prop flange, though most people use the leading edge.
