Thanks, Oscar. I will probably get a 20-100 MPH UMA tach for SkyScout. If I ever
get over 100, I will probably just clamp off and slow down, I won't want to
know how much over I went!
Thanks,
Ray Krause

I realize that most Piets have a marked Vne in the 90s, but some of the Corvair
powered Piets claim that they cruise in the yellow and have Vnes in the
triple digits. My guess is that the instrument would cost the same regardless
of the range, but given a choice I would much rather have an instrument that
reads on down into the 20MPH range than one that starts at 40 and goes up to 120+.

Michael; you must be under 40. Us older guys can't read 2-1/4" instruments anymore

Ray,
Kerri Ann has the Johnson type indicator Kits available. It is light weight, easy
to see and looks cool. I have one similar on my plane. Dad made it back
in the 70's, very simple and mine has been calibrated by hanging it out the window
of our old 1962 Pontiac station wagon back in the day. It also doesn't take
up any precious panel space.

Has anyone ever considered converting an old Jeep engine to use in the piet.
Reason I ask is I have a couple of them and they would be close to the weight
and horsepower of the ford, but with a little more modern innards. Things like
insert bearings, pressure oil in the right places. I hope this isn't a stupid
question . Just trying to find the specs on the jeep , and It may run at
a higher rpm to develop the 60 hp that it claims to have.

Scott,
I now remember seeing this on her web info and I planned on building one at that
time, but had since forgotten about it. I will order her plans.
Thanks,

After a tail wheel malfunction and a ground loop that damaged a wing we
are air born again. The piete (NX53WE) went off the edge of the runway
and this airport has a two foot drop at the edge of the of the runway so
the wing struck the ground and broke both spars. All is new and it flew
perfect. The tail wheel works great now and we are at a different
airport. The 0 200 sat for over a year and started on the third stroke.
It only has six hours on a major. It cruises at 80 at 2300 rpm and
stalls at 28. We made the long fuselage and added 4 inches to the nose
and made it 2 inches wider.Wood gear and 21 inch wheels. Three piece
wing with 19 gallon tank. Flies great. Bob Edson (Branson Mo)
