Rick,
I have nothing bad to say about the A-frame tail wheel gear that Mr.
Pietenpol designed, the problem was with my cable rigging. Since I had
decided to use return springs in the cockpit, I had no way of tightening
the cables to the tail wheel. Landings wereunpredictable. The
new setup is with a spring that extends the tail wheel back far enough
to link to the rudder with a rudder horn. Using a Matco tail wheel.

Gary;
I've always considered that life in California would be like "that hot place down
there", but can it really be 380 degrees where you are? You probably mean
that your CHTs are running that high ;o) Note that there has recently been a
discussion on WW's website about where the CHT sensor is placed and what the corresponding
temperatures should be, based on the sensor placement. The question
is, where is your CHT sensor placed? Under the plugs, or at the threaded
boss in the head? And if under the plugs, which specific cylinder/plug? They
don't all run the same temperature.

While we're on the subject of the Contrex sensor, how are you guys holding it in
place? I welded up a "T" bracket like the one shown on WW's website. He mentions
it as being a press fit, I believe. Mine fits fairly tight but I don't
know if it will hold the correct position since I haven't run the engine with
it in place. I was hoping some RTV in the end of the tube might hold it but
would like to hear what your experiences have shown.

WAS under the plug, but now under the 'hot' cylinder. Not sure if it made
any difference. Yes, I have been closely following that commentary. More
flight testing is required...

Gary;
I've always considered that life in California would be like "that hot place
down there", but can it really be 380 degrees where you are? You probably
mean that your CHTs are running that high ;o) Note that there has recently
been a discussion on WW's website about where the CHT sensor is placed and
what the corresponding temperatures should be, based on the sensor
placement. The question is, where is your CHT sensor placed? Under the
plugs, or at the threaded boss in the head? And if under the plugs, which
specific cylinder/plug? They don't all run the same temperature.
