CA+ glue will hold the nails. Put a tiny drop on the hole and dip the shank of the nail in it, then push or drive it in. It will be there forever. I use the stuff on model airplanes. On screw holes in wood where you will take them in and out some put some thin CA in the hole and let it cure good so when you put the screw in it will come out. The CA hardens the wood as it penetrates before it hardens. The stuff glues flesh really good too. You can pull a wound together, glue it and WALA no stitches. It gets hot when curing. -------- Jerry Dotson First flight June 16,2012 Flying in phase 2 Lycoming O-235 C2C Jay Anderson CloudCars prop 76 X 44 do not archive Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=415498#415498 ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 08:46:10 AM PST US From: "Barry Davis" Subject: RE: Pietenpol-List: Bingelis Books, free shipping A =9Cmust have=9D for aircraft building. I was wondering if CA cyanoacrylate ("Super Glue") might work to lock the nails in place, but thought I might get boos for that. If I might also mention something about this stuff, note that besides the very runny low-viscosity stuff, there is a thickened version of it available if you have to work upside-down or in a spot where the glue might tend to run off. At least one manufacturer also has a small brush type applicator for places where it isn't convenient or appropriate to try to apply a drop of glue. As mentioned, cyanoacrylate is also very good for gluing cuts closed. I have some super glue on my thumb right now, on a painful crack that has developed due to our recent very low temperatures and very dry air. This time of year my skin dries out and cracks a lot, which means that the Cornhusker's Lotion gets used pretty often. -------- Oscar Zuniga Medford, OR Air Camper NX41CC "Scout" A75 power Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=415511#415511 ________________________________ Message 5 _____________________________________ Time: 11:28:16 AM PST US Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: C85-12 From: "taildrags" Not trying to discourage anyone, just suggesting that you research the C85 engine before you jump on it. As I recall, the C85 uses pistons that are longer and heavier than the other small Continentals, and there is an extra ring on each piston. This translates to more reciprocating inertia and higher drag. I believe that those pistons may be more expensive and a bit more difficult to find than some of the others, too. Just things to consider if the engine needs to be overhauled or repaired. Any of you A&Ps with experience on this, please chime in! I've never seen the inside of a C85... just read this stuff in books. I have heard the C85 called a bit of a dog, while the C90, on the other hand, has a sterling reputation. -------- Oscar Zuniga Medford, OR Air Camper NX41CC "Scout" A75 power Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=415518#415518 ________________________________ Message 6 _____________________________________ Time: 12:21:47 PM PST US Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: C85-12 From: "Bill Church" Oscar, Are you sure you're not thinking of the A-80? It's also one of the most common upgrades to do on a Champ using the Lasher STC. I've heard mostly good things about the engine other than cylinders are a little harder to come by. Scott Knowlton.
