It is 1/16" plywood with a 1/4 x 3/4 cross piece front and rear with a diagonal. I screw it to the oak trim and when not in use the screws go back in the trim. I made the rear beam of the fin even with the rear beam of the horizontal and tailpost. The fittings will hold the fin above the horizontal slightly.
