A much edited video of yesterday=99s flight. At 6:30am, I was the
only one on the fieldfor a short time. It was 50=81=B0F on
the ground, but closer to 45=81=B0 at altitude, but quite comfortable
(I put the forward cover on). I don=99t care for the noise or the
shaking at this location and will most likely not do any more videos
      from here.

      Paul,

That seems like an expensive way to get instrumentation to the front seat. That
seems way more expensive than putting a second hand altimeter, airspeed, compass,
and maybe engine rpm in front. Plus, how are you going to power them? Battery?
What if the battery gets used up? Wire it for electrical? Seems unnecessarily
      complex.

If you had a stratus or some other GPS, an iPad could be synced with it, and you
could get instrumentation, except for RPM. But the same issues noted above apply
      here.

Also mounted a camera on the top of my VT for my first couple flights. Way too
much shake unless power was pulled back to 50-60%. I also use a front cockpit
cover in winter and 50 degree F ground temp is about my lower limit. Mount my
gopro on the cabanes or flying struts now.

Thanks, Gary! That's about when I was getting up, yesterday. Cai and flew to
Paradise in the Waiex and we were tempted to go to Lincoln and check on you
, but my grandson had to get back for some reason. Great video. Cai as a Go
Pro, so we intend to get some video some time.

Newer gopros will wiifi commands and live video output to the gopro mobile app
which runs on android or iphone or probably a nexus7 or ipad. Just mount a nexus7
with the gopro app on the front inst board, problem will be where to mount
the camera pointing at your rear inst board? On your chest?

Why not? You could mount it on your shoulder harness straps just like a
      police body armor video camera.

I would also think you could mount it on the seatback over your shoulder
and use different wedges to cushion it and so that it gets the picture you
      want.

Do you actually need to go pro apps? or is it that much better than other
      apps for free?

We actually have 3 or 4 year old android phones that were have been
replaced as they are obsolete. One has a cracked screen and it costs more
to fix than the phone is worth. We loaded them with free kids apps and let
      our preschoolers play with them.

Terry, I would put a steam gauge airspeed, oil, rpm and a ball.

Altitude, compass, turn and bank and several other instruments could be on
a self contained $180 Samsung mini tablet plus some fairly cheap program.

One of the cub clones uses an iPad mini and remote sensors. The only steam
gauge instruments are an air speed and a needle and ball. The FAA signed
off on it as a prebuilt LSA.

just kicking around the idea. I already have an ipad and was planning on getting
a gopro anyway. im installing a cigarette lighter type power supply in rear
so the only thing needed to run up front is a power extension from the rear.
since I dont currently have a gopro I dont know if it could be mounted in such
a way so that the display looks acceptable. I dont believe you can adjust the
      lens on the gopro.
it would be pretty cool to have full engine instruments up front while my boys
or myself are in that seat. and when flying by myself just unvelcro (or whatever)
      the ipad.
might be fun for someone who already has a flying piet to play around with.
