Thanks for all the encouraging words. I agree that ultimately this is all f or the best and the diversity is a positive. I look forward to learning all of the skills required to operate in and around controlled airspace and wi th operations on the ground.=C2- Slightly different world than where I ha d been training.=C2- I'm making the best of it, but it's quite difficult at times. Anyhoot, when the time comes, I'll find a hangar, assemble the aircraft, be gin ground tests, do some engine runs and various other things. I'll keep t he list posted. Thanks again.

Michael, just a suggestion but consider using Microsoft Flight Sim to help train for each session before that session. And to practice in between sessions . the cost of the game will soon be recovered with reduced flight time. There is even some online work where you can do radio work with others. Hello Steve. I already own FSX. (I have flown the Pietenpol within that sim . at a friends house.) Just to be clear, in my last post I said: "I'm makin g the best of it, but it's quite difficult at times."=C2- I meant the dif ficulty lies within changing venues, CFIs, platforms, schedules, etc. The f lying/training comes easier than trying to work around weather, schedules, etc.! FSX was given to me and I never use it. I have been in the sim. maybe 5 tim es. I know it has a ton to offer, but if I can't light something up with a couple of 20mm, I won't take the time. 8^)

Roger, right near the end of my training my excellent instructor got hired by KLM and went back to Holland. I needed 3 hours of dual. My old instructor told my new instructor that I was ready. all he needed to do was ride in the right seat and sign me off. However this new Swedish instructor did not like anything I did and started retraining me like a new student. It broke my confidence. After 5 hours of dual I was very discouraged. I couldn't land or anything. A senior instructor at the Army flying club asked me what was wrong. I told him and he took me up to check me out. He convinced me to forget my new instructors directions and fly the way old instructor taught me. It took me several hours of practice to go back to my old ways and take the test. The Swedish instructor was given a check ride and it was determined that he had come from a pilot mill and only knew one way to fly. He was so bad the club referred him to the FAA and he had to go through remedial training. Don't get discouraged. Ask your instructor to give you a progress check if he seems to be retraining you. I went from hundreds of hours of flying in uncontrolled airspace to flying in and out of a big airport. just remember this, you can always ask them to say again, and you only have to talk about one thing at a time. Also don't let aircraft type changes rattle you. Except for the numbers, most small aircraft fly very similar. Pay attention, but don't overthink it. I am NOT overly experienced but have little trouble switching from tailwheel to a nose dragger with steerable nose wheel to a free castering nose wheel. remember brakes are for taxiing only.. All the advice from me is free, and worth every penny of it! Keep at it. We are all behind you.
