Can any one of you guys flying with Conti A-65 kindly measure rfom the front cabane struts to th prop backplate front face? Also, please specify where you carry your fuel and how much. I think it will help a great deal with my progress. Happy landings Semih Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=442575#442575

Semih, I just measured mine and from the front of the prop backplate to the bottom attach bolt of the forward cabanes is exactly 48" (1,221.12 mm). My fuel tank (15 gallons) is in the wing centersection, between the spars. =8BJack, Thanks a lot. I will go back to my drawings and check. I presume you fly with A-65 (or someting similar). At least the pics show that. By the way, you Piet just looks beautiful. Thanks, Semih. Yes, it is an A65, using the Pietenpol plans for the A65 mount. Sorry for the slow response. I did some unscientific testing on the hinges. I setup a little leverage test and hung under it. I don't plan on using the AN3 bolt anymore as it is way overkill and would rather incorporate some kind of bushing and smaller pin. My high tech calibrated yard sale diet scale comes in somewhere between 0 and 1 oz depending on how you look at it. I used a screw driver as a pin because I lost the bolt. In conclusion, dont use a screw driver as a hinge pin. It will bend slightly. -------- David McBride Rochester, NY dmcb84@hotmail.com Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=442583#442583 Attachments: http://forums.matronics.com//files/2015_05_26_211307_147.jpg http://forums.matronics.com//files/2015_05_26_211240_679.jpg http://forums.matronics.com//files/2015_05_26_211217_816.jpg http://forums.matronics.com//files/2015_05_26_211154_127.jpg

Subject: New Pietvair Forum for Corvair Builders and Flyers Is
    Up
    From: "jarheadpilot82" <jarheadpilot82@hotmail.com>
I wanted to let the entire forum, but especially those that are planning on using a Corvair engine, know that a new forum has been created for the "Pietvair" Builder and Flyer. http://pietvair.freeforums.net/ William Wynne asked me to help him and we have created a forum for just such a subset of Pietenpol builders. Many times Corvair questions got asked here that really did not belong on this forum. Now there is a place for those questions to be answered. The Pietvair forum does not necessarily replace this forum. It is simply another source of information for Pietenpol builders and flyers using the Corvair. It has been in existence exactly 32 days and so far we have almost 70 members, 150+ individual threads, and over 550 individual responses. I am retaining dual citizenship on both forums and highly recommend that other builders do so as well. And maybe the best part for some of you is that there will be no more Posts here on Sherpas and climbing Mount Everest. William has told me his future posts will be on that forum, not this one. -------- Semper Fi, Terry Hand Athens, GA Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=442584#442584
