      Mr. Flyboy,

I was always taught to respectfully call my teachers Mr. ________, never just their
first name or last name, and since I don't know your real name, I guess I
just have to go with Mr. Flyboy. I emailed you offline and never got a response,
so I thought I would post here to ensure that you got the info.

It takes far more calculation that just a TLAR ("that looks about right") or trying
to equate wing reposition directly to CG location. This is such an important
issue, on the Pietvair forum (for Pietenpol bulders and flyers using the Corvair
engine to power their aircraft) that I mentioned in an earlier post, we
have an individual W&B notebook thread available for each builder, where CG calculations
are discussed, evaluated and double checked to make sure they are
correct. The topic is well covered, since both William Wynne and Ryan Mueller
who did the original articles are on Pietvair and contribute to the CG threads.
I would recommend that you contact Doc Mosher who still sells those articles.
If you need his contact info, post here that you need it, and we will get it
      to you.

As you have been cautioned by numerous people, DO NOT allow anyone to fly that
aircraft, or even taxi it until the CG issues are corrected.

I am close to having my Continental 0200 GN1 ready for flight. I bought a used
McCauley 1A105 SCM 74X54 prop to use. I plan on taking it to a prop
shop to have it repainted and re-pitched. Any suggestions on what pitch I should
      have it re-pitched to?

I'm sure you're going to get multiple responses on your questions.

Here's my $0.02... The 74 x 54 prop is a LOT of prop for an O-200, and would be
suitable as a cruise prop on a clean airframe. That's not exactly what a Piet
      is.

Have you checked ground clearance for the this prop? I know a lot of the small
continentals are using 72" props. I've heard of 72 x 42, 44, etc., so that
      may be a starting point.

Maybe someone out there has an O-200 powered Piet of GN-1 who can give you some
good info on how to re-pitch, etc.

      Best of luck!

| Subject: | Sharing Safety and Risk Management Information |

I had been contacted by a forum member expressing a concern that the new forum
(what we call the Pietvair forum) had been started for only Pietenpol builders
and flyers choosing the Corvair engine. Were we trying to keep safety related
information to ourselves, or what? So, for that reason William Wynne and I asked
Jack Phillips to join the Pietvair forum for that very reason. He is going
to function as the "Non-Corvair Liaison Officer."

We both think that Pietvair forum needs to be a close knit community, where members
are all builders with the common connection of the specific combination of
a Pietenpol and a Corvair. Combine this connection, with the private nature
of this group, and the requirement that everyone has a real name, and we get the
type and quality of posts that builders have been sharing here. As of today,
for instance in the 44 days that it has existed there have been over 750 targeted
well-written posts up on the forum.
Because Pietvair is private and not open to the general public, or even to Piet
builders who chose other engines, we now have Jack, who is known in the greater
Pietenpol community. He has full access to the forum, and will be alert to
any significant development on the Pietvair forum, and alert people on this forum
and other venues such as Facebook, that they should directly contact myself
or William for more information. It is our wish that by having Jack as our NCLO,
reasonable people will better understand our commitment to sharing important
concepts, while maintaining the focused membership requirements of the Pietvair
      forum.

Actually, I think that there will be very little, or next to nothing for him to
do. I doubt that we will have a serious development that we discover that will
really need to be shared with other builders. There are 3 issues that meet this
already, W&B, diagonal cabanes, and fuel lines. Those three areas are discussed
in great detail on this forum and can be easily researched in the archives
and we don't see any others on the horizon. However, out of a serious commitment
to safety, we have the NCLO position so the pathway exists should it be
      needed.

Several of our flying Corvair builders offered to do this task, and very well could
have, but William and I felt it was important that we have a non-Corvair
guy do it, and I am thankful that Jack understood the concept and agreed

To reiterate, membership in the Pietvair forum still has certain requirements,
but safety and risk management is something that we want to share with all builders
should the need arise, and Jack will allow us to communicate that quickly
      and effectively.

      Thanks, Jack.

Thanks for the additional photos, beautiful plane. I like your design of the cowl
and how it leads into the front cockpit instrument panel and the the main panel.
You must have increased this part of the turtle deck?

This is very sad, especially for those of us dealing with the untimely death
of Jeremy Monett and Mike, their mechanic from Sonex Aircraft.

I met Dick at Airventures several years ago and enjoyed seeing his Radial en

      I'm praying for them,
