How about flying in together, land, stop, open the other end, and then one plane takes off one way and the other takes off the opposite way! Ray Krause Sent from my iPad > On Jun 18, 2015, at 9:40 PM, taildrags <taildrags@hotmail.com> wrote: > > > Hah. Flying the stunt in a couple of Piets would make the Red Bull stunt look like child's play. The Piets would fly in the open door at one end, land to a full stop inside and turn off smoke, one of the pilots would climb out and open the doors at the other side, and then they would roll out, smoke on, and be flying when they exited the other side. Try THAT in your Extra 300! > > -------- > Oscar Zuniga > Medford, OR > Air Camper NX41CC "Scout" > A75 power > > > > > Read this topic online here: > > http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=443789#443789 > > > > > > > > > >

In that same movie (It=99s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World), right after flying through the hangar, they flew that Twin Beech through a billboard. I believe it said Coca-Cola on the front. They flew it through from the back. I read that Tallman painted a bullseye on the back of the billboard to give him a target for the nose of the airplane. The billboard was made of balsa wood, but the frame was steel and he only had 18=9D of clearance on either wingtip. When he flew through it, big hunks of balsa wood plugged both carburetor intakes and both engines quit almost immediately, forcing an immediate landing. He had a lot more cajones than I=99ve EVER had! I found a clip on YouTube showing flying through the hangar (it is at about 2:40 into the clip) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xsu3hiP1ikQ Jack Phillips NX899JP Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia From: owner-pietenpol-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-pietenpol-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of Cuy, Michael D. He learned to fly again with an artificial leg. What a neat piece of aviation history right at the airport where you learned to fly Gary. I heard that Frank Tallman flew the Standard J-1 down Main Street in the movie The Great Waldo Pepper he only had 4 feet to spare on either wingtip.

Thanks for finding that video, Jack! I read that in an interview, Tallman admitted that he would not like to repeat that billboard stunt. Douwe I have been using an auto Garmin GPS 255W in my Piet for 3 years. I put a custom POI in it. The file I have came from an FAA site. It has every airport in the US in it. I just loaded MS,AL,GA and FL in mine. I will share it with anyone wanting it. I have a Garmin Aviation GPS but like the auto better. I use a sectional as well. Jack Phillips I have an Ah-Oooga horn on my Piet. I bought it at Harbor Freight. It is disappointing as it is not loud enough. What brand is yours? Maybe an antique would work better. I can remember them since child hood and they were loud!! -------- Jerry Dotson First flight June 16,2012 Flying in phase 2 Lycoming O-235 C2C Jay Anderson CloudCars prop 76 X 44 do not archive Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=443833#443833
