Getting ready to weld 172 inch steel fuselage by using bay dimensions given
for wood fuselage on Supplemental plans, transposed onto standard steel
fuselage on plans. But longer wood fuselage has one more bay. Has anyone
      else done this?

Good question. I did my steel fuselage exactly the side-view dimensions but two
inces wider. If I did it again I would do same with the one exception of adding
three inces to the passenger bay.

| Subject: | Propeller suggestions for O-200? |

I was just afforded a rare opportunity to purchase a firewall forward Continental
O-200 sans mount and prop. This is the very engine I learned behind years ago
and it was just overhauled 18 months ago. The price is right, and I'm buying
      it.

Another student damaged the airplane beyond practical repair, so... the owner is
      parting it out.

I'm wondering if anyone has a suggestion for cost effective wooden propeller options
that have proven to be successful on the draggy Piet.

Kansas is very hot in the summer, so while I don't want to give away too much speed,
performance definitely has to lean toward climb.

While I'm at it, any suggestions on sourcing a mount?

      Thanks.

Andy; this is a combination that has flown on the Air Camper before, so you won't
be blazing a new trail. Depending on the accessories you plan to put on the
engine (or keep on it), you may be able to adapt a standard small Continental
engine mount as detailed in the Pietenpol family plans. If I remember correctly,
the O200 incorporates a different set of rubber mounts than the standard
conical ones that are used on the smaller Continentals, but there are also some
adapters that let you use those conical mounts with the O200. If you're building
a mount from scratch, it's better to build it to fit the O200 to begin
      with.

My guess is it won't be long before you hear back from various folks on this list
who are flying behind the O200 or who are building that combination, and in
any case I believe one of the Jacks on this list is keeping a semi-current list
of builders, owners, and airplanes including engine types so it should be easy
to search. If memory serves, one or more of our friends in the UK also has
this engine on their Air Camper.

Jake; do you maintain a builder website or some other place where you post progress
updates? Last we heard, you had the fuselage on the gear and the engine
hung. What's the status these days? Have you run the radial yet?

      Hello Good People!

The latest BPA issue is in the mail and should be hitting your doors starting this
week. I am in the process of trying to put one more together before Brodhead.
One thing I would like to do is put a nice tribute to Dick Navritil in that
issue. If you have any stories and or pictures to share of Dick, please send
them my way so we can salute him in the manner he deserves. He touched a lot
of lives and was a key figure in the Piet movement of the last several years.

Also, I have a new website about to launch and would like 5 to 10 people to help
in beta testing. Let me know if you are interested.
