Subject: | Metric Nicopress |
Hi everyone
I bought Nicopress sleeves and stainless thimbles for my contrl wires an tail bracing
wires. I also bought a Nicpress tool which the seller advertised appropriate
for 3mm (1/8") Nicopress sleeves. Now, 3mm is 0.175mm smaller than 1/8"
and I couldn't find the correct go-nogo size for it. Has anyone had any experience
with metric Nicopresses? If so, can you guide me?
Thanks
Semih

Hi Semih,
I looked in FAA AC4313 and they don't provide the measurements you ask for. Only
that there is a gauge to use. I have found the gauge in the Aircraft Spruce
catalog. It is part number "P/N GA-1P" and is $11.00 in my 2012 catalog. I hope
this helps you. Great question.
Happy building,

In an old EAA publication called "Aircraft Homebuilding Tips volume 1 file number
6" , on page 34, published in 1967, is a good chart showing the various measurements
for 1/16" to 5/32" nicropress sleeves including the min/max compression
specs for each size.
1/16" min .190 max .195
3/32" min .255 max .265
1/8" min .343 max .353
5/32" min .380 max .390
