Here are the detail again. My best friend in this whole wide world died suddenly and my interest in finishing my Piet died with him. We were building in his hangar and both wanted Corvair engines, his for an Avid and mine for the Piet. I=92ve lost interest in going forward, so the project=92s for sale. I=92m asking $13,000, which sounds like a lot at first glance, but look what you=92re really getting. Mounted (4130 tray) 90 hp =9268 Corvair engine rebuilt w/magnafluxed crankshaft line bored w/+10 by NASCAR engine builder and balanced to 0.5 gram with WW gold hub and new Corvair starter ring gear installed. All internal engine parts are from Clark except the crankshaft=97hi-tech pistons, chrome rings, 3-angle valve resurfaced seats w/stainless steel exhaust valves w/tungsten seats, OT-10 (C8800) camshaft w/failsafe gear installed, new high performance case studs, new lifters, keepers, springs, shims, seals, caps, and rocker arm assembly. Remanufactured Clark harmonic balancer, rebuilt Subaru front starter w/new start ring gear, installed JD alternator w/belt, tach pickup mounted on alternator bracket, plumbed for oil pressure and temperature, exhaust fully fabricated with WW stubs, intake partially fabricated for rebuilt MA3SP carb calibrated for 100 LL, WW dual-ignition distributor w/Eichlin rotor and cap, new plugs and ignition wires, Bosch coils and joiner mounted, primary fiberglass cooling shrouds fabricated and fitted, air-oil separator, oil cooler, Wings with wingtip wiring finished, trammeled to 0.25-inch and ready to cover, tailfeathers ready to cover. Nice stuff, but maybe overkill for a Piet. In the past, I've seen several Piets with Go-Kart calipers, but before I purchase anything, I'd like to query anyone having specific experience with them, preferably on a flying plane. Are they: Easy to install? Are they durable, or do they have problems? Provide correct braking force? (This is related to brake holding torque) Reasonable Cost? Tell all of us your experience with your Disc Brakes, Calipers, etc., and PLEASE don't hold back a thing.
