Yes, we are.
Getting back to normal after two weeks at Oshkosh.
The rotary community is working on finding the right person to pick up the
production of the RWS drive. We were going to do it but the volume is too l

Good Morning!
My name is Scott Saver. I recently moved to Spring Hill TN and keep an RV8
At Lewisburg (KLUG). My father and I were building a Piete when he passed two years
ago. Trying to get motivated to finish the project so thought I'd
See if anyone was nearby. Would love to see a completed airplane.
Thanks!

Tellico Plains, TN (85TN). About a 2 1/2 hr. drive from Spring Hill. Fly your RV
over for our monthly fly-in (2nd Sat. May-Oct, 1100-1300). I'm about 1/2 done
with mine, but we have a complete-and-flying one here also.

Douwe,
It made it clear out to CA. I was wondering if the website had a kink in the communication

Subject: | Re: ADS B in a Pietenpol? |
I think that we will be grandfathered in. Our planes simply won't support the
equipment needed. The FAA has already established that with our exceptions granted
to us already.
Newly built planes, I'm not even going to guess about those.
What I personally worry about is if the drones are going to have (ADS-B in) so
they can avoid real aircraft. This would still leave us vulnerable to collisions
with them (Drones) since we won't even have (ADS-B out). We operate out of
farm fields and dirt strips. I have a hard time believing that folks like Amazon
can avoid flying though these areas since most of our flying fields are not
even on Sectionals.
What do the rest of you think?

Scott,I am replacing my corvair with a c85 and would like any suggestions you may
have. Engine is. Mounted and firewall forward is wired. Yet to do the panel
and fuses. What do you think of automotive fuses? Gardiner Mason

Hi Gardiner,
You'll like your C-85. I am an EAA Tech counselor and look at many projects.
I have seen a few guys use automotive fuses in the aircraft and you can, since
it is an experimental airplane.
Now here is my opinion for you:
I would use aircraft or aircraft quality reset-able circuit breakers for a couple
of reasons. Again, it is your choice but this is why I wouldn't use automotive
stuff.
The wire connections made to the circuit breaker are solid when a screw type connection
is made at the back of a breaker. Automotive fuses are typically a friction
type connection.
While in-flight and a breaker kicks off you can reset it and hope it holds. With
a fuse, you will need to search for one (fuse) and then try to change it in
flight.
Now lets say that you land somewhere and fix whatever caused the fuse or circuit
breaker to fail. With a reset-able circuit breaker you just reset it and you
are on your way. With a fuse, aircraft or automotive style, You will need to
find another one somewhere to replace the spare one you have already used.
Not very convenient at best.
Another reason I try to steer folks away of fuses is that the mindset of most folks
is that (If I replace that 15 amp fuse with a 20 amp fuse) I can make it
home and fix whatever the problem is later. Not a good idea. That may be just
the recipe for a burnt up component or a fire. Maybe losing the whole plane.
My three cents,
P.S. I like using a 72x42 prop on my plane. It is a good all around prop for
the Piet.
Cheers,
