From: Matt Paxton Tom, I used Loctite Aviation Gasket Sealant, available at auto parts stores, and silk thread when I rebuilt my Continental A-65. No leaks after 2 years and 80 hours. Just a very thin coat does it. It was a translucent coat - I could see metal through it. The Subaru factory guys swear by it, and it's apparently outstanding for eliminating leaks at the crankcase flange split, as well as anywhere else a sealant can be used. Impervious to gas, oil, steam, etc., and remains flexible forever. (Silicone based) > > So, who here has any experience using it? Corvair guy pitch right in, as you've use many non FAA approved items...
