| Subject: | Pietenpol kit from Aircraft Spruce for sale- lost my FAA |
      med

      Hello everyone,

I lost my FAA medical after taking delivery of everything for my Pietenpol project:
my plans from Andrew Pietenpol, plans for the Kerri-Ann Price Passenger door,
and all the wood kits (except for the wing kit) from Aircraft Spruce.

I started a fuselage side, but decided to re-order all the wood that I used so
that the kit is complete and unstarted. The following is included:

Pietenpol Plans from Pietenpol family- deluxe set.
Keri-Ann Price plans for passenger drop-down door.
      Fuselage kit
      Vertical & Horizontal stabilizer kits
      Rudder & Elevator kits
All wood necessary to build the Keri-Ann Price door
2 unopened bags for A/C nails
2 Aircraft Spruce "grab bags" of extra spruce

I won't be getting my medical back anytime soon... Professional pilot for 20 years
      and now everything has changed.

I paid over $2100 for the above, not including shipping. I am selling the whole
project for $1200 firm. It includes everything except for a wing kit.

I am unable to ship anything, and don't want to separate any items. I am in Placerville,
California (not far from Sacramento). I have all receipts.

Please send me a PM if you are interested.

      Thank you,

      David

      Group,
The list has been pretty quiet so I will share some news from out West. Two
weeks ago there was a Pietenpol (GN-1) crash into the Great salt lake in U
tah. The pilot survived and was in good condition after the crash. The acc
ount was told by the pilot to my hangar neighbor who knows that I am buildi
ng my Pietenpol. He said the pilot was very open about the crash and the ev
      ents there after.
I posted pictures of this Piet several years ago as it sat covered by a foo
t of snow on our ramp. The owner bought it and brought it to our little Sky
port. I never saw it fly, just saw it sitting for years. The owner decide t
o sell and had the annual done and some work on the fuel system. The Pilot
of the downed Piet is very experienced but not so much in a Pietenpol. He
was flying the Piet to another airport and had to cross the Great Salt lake
. After only 15 min in the air the engine quit and down she came. The pilot
stated the water sure came up faster than what was expected, I guess he di
dn't realize Pietenpols glide like a brick. On impact with the water the p
ilot was restrained nicely by the shoulder harness. The plane went up on it
s nose and settled back and floated. At some point the pilot exited the air
craft to the water but when the plane did not sink right away he crawled ba
ck up on it and wrung his shirt out and "probably his shorts". He managed t
o keep his hand held radio and was able to communicate with ATC. Within a f
ew minutes shrimp spotting planes from out over the lake found him and he w
as picked up by a brine shrimp boat then transferred to a State park rescue
boat. The plane has since been recovered and is now listed for sale. It i
s a steel tube Piet GN-1 with an A-65. I have no association with owner or
any vested interest in the plane other than passing on the classified Ad th
at is now posted. Attached is a picture of the recovered plane on a traile
      r and the online Ad.

Don't get too down hearted , I too lost my medical because of a heart attack and
stint placement. I am also a professional pilot , (Crop Duster)
I found a good medical go between doctor and he helped me jump the hoops to get
back on flying status; I Now am working on a limited commercial ticket because
that is all I need , but you can get back on full flight status you just
have to do different testing . I probably don't have to tell you this as you
probably know it , but Keep the faith.

      Dave,

Not to dig too deep into your situation, but did you actually FAIL your FAA physical?
Or is it thatit you no longer have a medical due to a physical condition?
      There is a difference.

The Pietenpol meets the criteria for flying with Light Sport priveleges - it is
LSA compliant. As long as you have not failed your physical you can still fly.

I had an FO who was advised to voluntarily surrender her medical to the FAA so
that she would not have noted that she had failed.

I am just saying that you may have options beyond selling your Pietenpol kit.

Best of luck in whatever you do.

We're there ping-pong balls in the wings or fuselage? If so how many and
      what brand?
