From: "tools" Hwy Barry! Sorry, no Toolstock this year. A very good friend had some very serious health issues and needed quite a lot of help. Just never had time to get the place ready. However, am already planning on one here in GA next feb. Would also like to have a smaller one up in WI sometime. Kind of want that one more Piet or airplane related at the outset. I may start a thread over on the new BPA site to see what would help folks the most. Thanks for asking! Going to sun and fun? I was afraid of that. I have some interesting guns to bring and shoot. Might fly down for a day or two, but most likely won't. I have a Glock Shooting match next weekend and need to practice a little next week. (For those interested in a family oriented shooting group, google GSSF. There are matches every weekend all over this great country) Barry -----Original Message----- From: owner-pietenpol-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-pietenpol-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of tools Sent: Thursday, March 09, 2017 8:48 AM Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: Toolstock??? I think the new forum is going to work well. Don't want to miss your input. While I find the Forum to be farily easy to use, I do not find it intuitive. However, being the Luddite I am, I don't find any website, list, forum or anything but papyrus to be intuitive. Computer and Smartphone designers say "this is intuitive" BS. It involves something above hunting and gathering or building. If I throw a rock at your head. Ducking is intuitive. If I send a malicious worm to your computer, there is no intuitive reaction. Now I wish I had made my motor mount another 2" longer for my SkyScout. But by slanting my cabanas back almost 6", I'm now where I should be with the CG. With a 200lb butt in the cockpit, my CG is fine until I get down to 30 minutes of fuel left. That means I've flown for over two hours, not too likely! Maybe by the time I fly it, I can loose 10 lbs! Down at the bottom of that page is a picture of a finished pair of the hinges with this caption: > > "... and here, after some 396 separate hand operations, is a pair of hinges. Approximate weight of this pair of hinges, minus the mounting screws and pivot pin hardware, is 0.64 oz, or about 0.38 lb for the complete set of 9 pairs. Since all of this weight is aft of the CG and on a very long moment arm, keeping these parts light is important. Believe it or not, the moment created by this 1/3 of a pound for a set of hinge castings out at the tail of my Air Camper is the same as that created by 3 gallons of fuel (18 lbs) in the nose tank. Use thin AN washers on the clevis pins, don't use pins that are any longer than necessary, and clip the excess leg lengths off the cotter pins before setting them." > > -------- > Oscar Zuniga > Medford, OR > Air Camper NX41CC "Scout" > A75 power, 72x36 Culver prop > > > > > Read this topic online here: > > http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=467087#467087 > > > > > > > > > ________________________________ Message 5 _____________________________________ Time: 08:06:41 AM PST US Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: New piet builders forum From: "oldbird" Joined... I will point out that mine is NOT a show winning airplane, it's a flyer... and a fun one at that. I never worry about anybody touching the airplane, sitting in it, fiddling with the controls or knobs (except for the mag switch!!), leaning on it- and there is always room on it for another drip or smear of Aeroshell 50, another splatter of mud on the underside, another little clump of grass from passenger or pilot shoes in the cockpit. There is nothing more depressing than an airplane that never flies, spending its life sitting on the ramp or in a hangar. They are all nice to look at, and to smell, and to inspect, but they are so quiet and lifeless if they never get to fly. I would rather have an unpolished, imperfect, unremarkable airplane that you can walk up to and the engine is still tick-tick-ticking as it cools down and people are walking away smiling as they get out of it after a flight. A few drips out the breather tube as it sits on the apron and a lot of bugs smashed on the prop and windshield. Yep... it's a flyer. -------- Oscar Zuniga Medford, OR Air Camper NX41CC "Scout" A75 power, 72x36 Culver prop Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=467130#467130 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Other Matronics Email List Services ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Post A New Message pietenpol-list@matronics.com UN/SUBSCRIBE http://www.matronics.com/subscription List FAQ http://www.matronics.com/FAQ/Pietenpol-List.htm Web Forum Interface To Lists http://forums.matronics.com Matronics List Wiki http://wiki.matronics.com Full Archive Search Engine http://www.matronics.com/search 7-Day List Browse http://www.matronics.com/browse/pietenpol-list Browse Digests http://www.matronics.com/digest/pietenpol-list Browse Other Lists http://www.matronics.com/browse Live Online Chat! http://www.matronics.com/chat Archive Downloading http://www.matronics.com/archives Photo Share http://www.matronics.com/photoshare Other Email Lists http://www.matronics.com/emaillists Contributions http://www.matronics.com/contribution ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These Email List Services are sponsored solely by Matronics and through the generous Contributions of its members.
