Libertyman777, Im a newby builder too so I thought Id offer up my experience so far. I just bought the plans in September 2016 and, as you know, they lack a great deal of specificity. I took the advice of Tony Bingelis and built a 100% scale mockup of the fuselage this winter out of scrape wood. I learned a lot about the process and made several mistakes I wont make when I get to building the actual fuselage. I originally thought I wanted to use a Corvair engine but after some research and study, I have decided to go with the wildly nostalgic Ford Model A engine. The Ford will be simpler, cheaper, cooler and move my build project forward much faster. Im also shortening the 14 foot, 6 inch Corvair long fuse to just 14 feet cuz I can get really good Western Hemlock locally for much less than the expensive Spruce from AS&S. Im trimming 6 inches off the fuse will help with the chronic tail heavy Piet syndrome and stretching the fuse forward 2 for the same reason. Im also making my Air Camper a one-person plane for accommodate my 6 foot 4 inch frame. Or am I building a stretched Sky Scout? The great thing about the Piet is that you have a lot of options and room for customizing your plane to fit your needs and taste. Hope this helps. Feel free to contact me if you want to discuss more. -------- Vincent Dunn Salem Oregon vincentkdunn(at)yahoo.com Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=467356#467356 Attachments: http://forums.matronics.com//files/mockup_fuselage_102.jpg

Paul; The gross weight of 41CC was determined by the builder, Corky Corbett. However, that said, I can tell you that in the 1932 Flying & Glider Manual article on the Air Camper by Bernard Pietenpol, the "maximum load lifted" by the wing is listed as 1080 lbs so I'm not too surprised that the max gross on 41CC is listed as 1,088. -------- Oscar Zuniga Medford, OR Air Camper NX41CC "Scout" A75 power, 72x36 Culver prop Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=467377#467377
