There is a lot of work to be done in there and the plywood sides would make things more difficult to get to. I have my new aluminum high compression head from Australia and am waiting on some special hard washers to put under the head nuts so I can install it . It should give me a boost in performance and make it a real capable airplane. The weight savings won't be that great , just a few pounds, and the designer said he wanted it to be strong and not prone to warping. It is a beautiful piece of work and I am glad to get it. This head has been out of production for some time and the retired builder and designer made me one just because my project interested him . He is a hell of a guy , I gear head hot rodder from way back, who was racing model A's and then switched over to the Willys engine cause he liked it better . Also he is a aeronautical engineer by trade and has worked here in the states quite a lot for the big airplane boys Boeing, ect. so he has a background in flight.
