Subject: | Re: Vi Kapler hinges |
To those who asked about as-cast hinge blanks- yes, I will sell them in that condition.
I will inspect the rough castings and sell them as-is, for the builder
to turn into finished hinges. The operations required are not difficult or
intricate, but they do require some care in order to have the pivot holes all
turn out straight and square. I have jigs for these operations, but jigs are
not essential if the builder is consistent about placing and aligning the holes.
Smoothing and finishing are the most tedious operations, depending on the level
of finish desired. I don't have anything like a mill and the parts don't require
milling unless you want absolutely square, flat, true, and parallel surfaces
and edges.
The operations, and a picture of a typical completed pair of hinges, are on the
webpage that I gave earlier, here:
http://www.flysquirrel.net/RogueAir/hinges.html
I will sell a set of nine pairs of as-cast, unfinished hinges for $27 plus shipping.
In the U.S., I send them out via USPS flat-rate small box, which is currently
$6.45. Outside the U.S., I would have to have the rate calculated by the
post office but I doubt that it would be more than twice the domestic U.S.
rate.

What size bolts did you use to secure the torque tube brackets to the floor? I'm
making the flight control pieces now, so any help with the hardware used will
sure be appreciated.
Thank you!
