I've made mockups using poster board and cardboard, but they look cheesy compared to yours. So where do you plan to install a heat muff for carb heat, and what about your oil filler cap/dipstick? Where will that shoot out? A lot of builders end up shifting the wing aft to make adjustments in the CG and I wonder if that changes the AOI any significant amount. Yeah, I know... it flies just fine ;o) -------- Oscar Zuniga Medford, OR Air Camper NX41CC "Scout" A75 power, 72x36 Culver prop Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=488382#488382 ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 12:19:02 PM PST US Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: Lift Strut attach fittings From: "DonkDoug" Oscar, I wondered the same thing about the wing being moved back to get the CG correct and how that affected the angle of incidence at the cabane attach points. I did a little trig and in that case it decreases the angle of incidence by a negligible amount. I suspect the angle of incidence at the lift strut attach points is changed the same amount. The lift struts must be disconnected during the wing pivot operation and the cable x-braces disconnected (or slackened) as well. The lift struts have length adjustments by way of the threaded end fittings (forks or Heim joints) at their lower ends, and the X-brace cables have turnbuckles for length adjustments. OK, I'm awake now. Sorry I wasn't thinking ;o) -------- Oscar Zuniga Medford, OR Air Camper NX41CC "Scout" A75 power, 72x36 Culver prop Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=488384#488384 ________________________________ Message 5 _____________________________________ Time: 07:32:36 PM PST US Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: Lift Strut attach fittings From: "DonkDoug" No problem Oscar. If you can't discern the difference, then just notice that I'm flying an Air Camper in the picture, having a great time, happy to be in the air in a simple, honest, affordable airplane of my own. I'm the pilot, navigator, and mechanic. I got to be in this picture because I didn't build the airplane. If I had, I would no doubt have over-thought the build every step of the way! You can be a Piet pilot too, like thousands of others have done in the last 90 years. Carry on... -------- Oscar Zuniga Medford, OR Air Camper NX41CC "Scout" A75 power, 72x36 Culver prop Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=488390#488390 Attachments: http://forums.matronics.com//files/dsc_0011_571.jpg ________________________________ Message 7 _____________________________________ Time: 10:46:57 PM PST US From: "Clif Dawson" Subject: Re: Pietenpol-List: Re: engine cowl Well, the card stock ( matt board ) was a cheesy bright red so I took the same paint as will be on the real thing and sprayed it. ( bloody cheater!:-) ). I've got two 4 by 8 sheets of free aluminum. Guess what? It's 2/3d's the thickness I need. :-( Oh well. So, I've been struggling with the muff. I think it will be the same pipe material welded to the inside a rear cylinder pipe right up under the cylinder, more or less hidden. The filler is up behind the right rear cylinder so a little door will have to go there.
