Thank you Oscar. I want something cheap to meet the requirements...I plan to also have on me a personal locating beacon if venturing a way from my ho me base.=C2- On Thursday, June 27, 2019, 11:34:37 PM EDT, taildrags <taildrags@hotma il.com> wrote: Mike; my Air Camper has a Narco ELT, I believe it's the ELT-10, 121.5 Mhz o nly, one of the simplest and most ubiquitous ELTs from days gone by.=C2- It has its own little fold-out antenna so it could ostensibly be removed fr om the airplane after a crash and used as a personal-carry locator with the antenna extended.=C2- The battery has a mandatory 2-yr replacement and a battery costs $34.50 from Chief Aircraft and others.=C2- I test it regul arly and it works, but I have as much expectation of anyone ever locating i t or my downed aircraft as I do of winning the Powerball this Saturday.=C2 - I installed it and maintain it on the aircraft to meet the requirement that an operational ELT be carried onboard my 2-place aircraft.=C2- I don 't believe that an ELT is required for single-place aircraft like the Sky S cout. Mike, you might touch base with a DAR in your area before you buy a 121.5 ELT. My understanding is that the FAA no longer permits a signoff on new installations of those. Besides, if you ever do end up in a situation where the ELT could save your life, having one that can actually help do that may seem like a pretty good investment. You might not be able to reach or activate a PLB. I've had something like that experience. Here's the short version of the story. Four years ago, after my engine quit in flight, I landed in a cornfield and came to rest upside down. Within a minute or two, I received a call from the ELT folks checking on the status of my airplane and me. They knew precisely my location. In fact, I had just started inspecting the damage when the call came in. As it happens, I was unhurt. So in this instance, I suppose it didn't matter that I had a new style 406 ELT. But the value of one became very clear. Now, I wouldn't fly without it. Cheers, Ken On Fri, Jun 28, 2019 at 6:53 AM Michael Perez <speedbrake@sbcglobal.net> wrote: > Thank you Oscar. the middle piece of plywood is cut, soaked and clamped onto the leading edge to form. I messed one piece up by cutting it too short so now have to order another piece. I did some more varnishing as well Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=489905#489905 Attachments: http://forums.matronics.com//files/20190628_132135_resized_158.jpg

The rule was implemented Jan. 11 of this year but with a 6-month transition period so that vendors could deplete their inventory. After that expires (soon-!), the manufacture, importation, or sale of 121.5 Mhz ELTs will be prohibited. -------- Oscar Zuniga Medford, OR Air Camper NX41CC "Scout" A75 power, 72x36 Culver prop Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=489906#489906
