hinges?
Shrinkers/stretchers work well as long as the metal wont be welded.
The heat will tend to flatten the metal out again.

Earl: right you are. However, all of Ed Fisher's aluminum rib designs employ riveted
connections using pulled rivets, no welding. And the metal is all so thin
that you'd have to be a real hand with the torch to weld any of it except
fishmouth connections on tube joints and clusters with decent wall thickness to
let you run a bead.
