Hello Walter,
Personally I would not hesitate to fabricate the longerons the way you desc
ribe. First I would run the material through a planer so that the thickness
of each piece was 1/3 inch. Then if you could make a random glue pattern,
staggering all the glue joints as to spread the stress. I'll bet your resul
t would actually be stronger than the original, a-la modern glued-up "engin
eered" beams. Do you know Santiago Morete of Santa Rosa, Argentina? He comp
leted his Pietenpol a few years ago and the result is impeccable.

Good afternoon, with your permission, I would like to ask if it is feasible
to build a longeron with 3 strips plated together until reaching 4.40 mete
rs, which is the length I need for one inch wide
.. this is because I have a very good wood but it is only 1.50 meters long
by half an inch, I await your comments
Walter from Argentina

>Hi Walter, in addition to what the other guys said I would suggest to glue up
the lower longeron in the shape of the lower longeron. This will result in less
stress in the final fuselage.

I agree with Skip Gadd. If you make your laminated longerons, then it would
be wise to glue them in a jig that has the same final curved shape as the
finished fuselage. If they are glued straight, they will be harder to bend
after gluing.
