I've got a '72 Cherokee 180G that I'm wanting to add static wicks to. I know Piper must have manufactured some Cherokees with wicks, because I see them in the IPC. But I can't find in the maintenance manual anywhere that it talks about procedures for adding wicks. ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 07:44:47 PM PST US From: John Grosse Subject: Re: Piper-List: Static wicks for Cherokee --> Piper-List message posted by: John Grosse I added static wicks to my 1968 Arrow about 15 years ago as part of the certification for an IFR loran. I ordered the drawings from Piper. I don't remember the details, but I should still have the drawings. Basically, there are two wicks on each aileron, flap and on the rudder and stabilator. Plus you need to add a grounding strap between the airframe and each of the above control surfaces. You also need to get a good bond between the wick and the aircraft which means getting down to bare metal and then painting.
