Subject: Question about Cherokee Glare Shield on Ebay
There is a Dennis Ashby glare shield cover listed on ebay this week. Has anyone had any experience installing these things? How long of a project was it? Was windshield removal necessary. This also comes with the optional lights. Any experiences with those would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your welcomed experiences and comments. DO NOT ARCHIVE

Haven't heard anything bad about them. You don't remove the windshield to install. It does require trimming, and once fitted, is simply held in place with doublestick tape. Since it's not permanently installed, it doesn't require a 337. The lights will require your friendly A&P to sign off for the install and 337. Give yourself the best part of a day to finish the glareshield. Check out http://www.aircraftglareshield.com/ and you'll find a bunch of info about it. Good luck with it. MessageI put an Ashby glareshield in a Cherokee 150C while installing a one-piece windshield. It can be installed without removing the windshield, but removal and reinstallation of the defroster outlets is far more difficult with the windshield in place. The machine screws that hold the ducts in place penetrate the glare shield, and getting the holes in the right place is more difficult with the windshield installed. It works fine, but I haven't ever been able to keep the optional eyebrow lights permanently installed -- the adhesive fails in hot weather, and they fall down in front of the instruments. Plan on a day for the installation. ----- Original Message ----- From: Ron Bell To: piper-list@matronics.com Sent: Saturday, July 29, 2006 7:52 PM Subject: RE: Piper-List: Question about Cherokee Glare Shield on Ebay Haven't heard anything bad about them.
