Repeat your post on the aeroelectric list above. There are many there more expert
than I but what you want to do is not simple. You are probably better off putting
the radio on e bay and buying a 14 V radio.

Are you sure the radio can't be converted to 12 volt? Model and manufacturer?
For older stuff it was pretty common to regulate down to 12 volts and the only
real difference was the way pilot lights were wired.
