Both had Maule tailwheels and I was very satisfied. Many people use the locking type but I never thought it was necessary and takes getting used to. Maule type is readily available in any parts catalog. The Matco one are cheap but I was not impressed with one a friend of mine used on his Pelican. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Darryl Christen" Subject: Re: Pitts-List: Tailwheel > --> Pitts-List message posted by: "Darryl Christen" > > Have owned two Pitts, a single seater and a two seater. Taxiing and landing seem very responsive. There is an -S1C in the hangar that has the same tailwheel. Both are 6" wheel, full swivelling. I believe Aircraft Spruce sells them as the Homebuilders Tailwheel.
