I have an Aviation Products on my Eagle and it apears to me to be a step
above the others.

Okay, thanks for that testimonial. I did look at that tailwheel in the
Aircraft Spruce catalog, and while it is not that cheap, it is much lower in
cost than a new Scott.

I don't have a Pitts, but I want to build one. I have built an RV-6. I
keep looking at the Pitts style tailwheels and they do not seem as elegant
as those on the RVs. Mine is a steel tapered rod, with a full swivel wheel
and it works great (steerable and nonlocking). It has about the same
profile as the Pitts locking tailwheel.
Vans Aircraft will sell parts to all. Just a thought.

The Aviation products tailwheel and tapered rod spring has lasted for over
400 landings on my old tired S1. One guy mentioned it wasnt cheap, of course its
not cheap, its for an airplane. Aviatin Products,Ojai,CA will sell direct,
leave aircraft spruce out of it and save money. kevin
