Subject: | Longeron and Fuselage Bending |
Looking for tips on how to jig and weld the fuselage for an S-1S. The books
I can get my hands on seem to indicate the "horizontal" (in the plane
parallel to the ground when the fuselage is level) bends are made using
blocking squares on the jig table: block the outside according to plans,
then bend the longerons to fit inside the blocking squares. When cross
members are then welded, the bends are held. Same for the bottom. To bend
the bottom in the vertical plane, the bottom is constructed flat, then bent.
Will heat have to be applied simultaneously to both sides to make the
vertical bends? Appreciate any insight.
